    YAY FOR ELBOW GREASE!

No, I'm not talking about fisting

Anywho... I took the fairing off of my bike last weekend and finally got a chance to scrub it today. As you can see, almost all of the bigger scratches aren't visible anymore. I'm so happy

Good turn around! Now, get a green highlighter and just fill in the dark spots

I was debating touching it up... but I think I'll just put my "Real Bikes Have Battle Scars!" sticker back on and call it good. Eventually its getting an entirely new paint scheme anyway.

With hibernating most of the winter and not around last fall much, I missed how you aquired them battle scars

I'd take the cheaper route, leave 'em as is. I know who to get ahold of if I toss the gixxer now

Well, that scuff at the top is deep, covering it up wouldn' look right because there'd still be grooves. It needs to be patched and I don't have the time, energy or skillz to do it.

get the color that matches in the little bottle like nail polish. layer it in, until it is close, wet sand it with 1000 grit or even 1500 grit sand paper and wax it. It will take a few nights but look a shit ton better. yes you have the skills you just need to apply them

Don't mean/want to thread jack, but does this work for any scratches no matter how deep?

Yes it depends on your patience and how good you want it too look. I would do what Jackie did and rub most of them out. Then take your time filling the remaining scratches with paint, letting them dry between coats. Then WET sand with 1000/1500 grit sandpaper, buff and wax

Okay, now what exactly do you rub them out with? cloth? that 1000 grit paper? Sorry never did this before and my new bike does have road rash and I want it to look as good as new again.

I used a regular sponge with a scrubby pad on the back and some Simple Green. On the bigger scuff, I used a Brillo. Be careful with both though, you can end up causing more scratches if you're too hard.

omg, u use brillo!! I thought that would automatically cause swirl like scratches in paint. Well, looking at the before and after pic obviously not. It came out real good. I hope I get the same results.

I got the bike put back together today, all by myself (yes I was proud) and switched my screen to a new black Zero Gravity one that I picked up in the off-season. Bike looks sexy I even changed the oil!
