you've probably all seen this before but...

just in case you haven't, I have pasted it below. I thinks it's funny. Don't know where it appeared originally.

I love motorcycles, and I love riding. Like many of you what first drew me
to bikes was not just the experience of riding, but the feeling that I'd
    become
part of a special community - a brotherhood, really. Nothing calms me more
    than
a long ride down the interstate, waving to the members of my beloved clan.

Except when I pass Harley guys. I hate Harley guys. Hate, hate, hate.
When they pass me on the highway, you know what I do? I don't wave.
With their little tassel handlebars and the studded luggage and the half
helmets - God, they drive me crazy.

You know who else I hate?

BMW guys. Oh, do I hate those guys. I don't wave at them either.
They think they're so great, sitting all upright, with their 180 degree
German engines. God, I hate them. They're almost as bad as those old
    bastards
on their touring motorcycles. You know what I call those bikes? "Two wheeled
    couches!" Get it?
Because they're so big. They drive around like they have got all day.
Appreciate the scenery somewhere else, Grandpa, and while your at it, I'm
    not waving to you.

Ducati guys - I don't wave at them either.
Why they don't spend a little more money on their bikes? "You can have it in
any color as long as it is red."
Aren't you cool! Like they even know what a Desmo-whatever engine is,
anyway. Try finding the battery, you Italian-wannabe racers!

I never, ever wave at those guys.

Suzuki guys aren't much better, which is why I never wave at them, either.
They always have those stupid helmets sitting on the top of their stupid
heads, and God forbid they should ever wear any safety gear.
    They make me so mad.
Sometimes they'll speed by and look over at me and you know what I do?

    I don't wave I just keep going.

Please, don't get me started on Kawasaki guys.
Ninjas? What are you, twelve years old?
    Team Green my ass.

I never wave at Kawasaki guys.

I ride a Honda, and I'll only wave at Honda guys,

    but even then,

I'll never wave at a guy in full leathers. Never, never, never. Yeah like
you're going to get your knee down on the
New York Thruway. Nice crotch, by the way. Guys in full leathers will never
    get a wave from me,
and by the way, neither will the guys in two piece leathers. And I'll tell
you who else I'm not waving at - those guys with the
helmets with loud paint jobs. Four pounds of paint on a two pound helmet -
like I'm going to wave back at that!
I'll also never wave at someone with a mirrored visor.
    Or helmet stickers.
    Or racing gloves.
    Or hiking boots.

To me, motorcycling is like a family, a close knit brotherhood of people who ride Hondas, wear jeans and a leather jacket (not Vanson) with regular gloves and a solid color helmet with a clear visor, no stickers, no racing gloves and regular boots (not Timberlands). And isn't that what really makes riding so special?

Haha... amusing The only people I don't wave at are harly guys, and if they wave, I'll wave back. The only reason I won't wave first is because, through experience I've found that most of them are far too cool to wave back at me.

I wave at all bikers. Fuck 'em if they don't wave back. I have found that they all wave back if it's really cold out, as in early or late season. That's when the "real" riders are out anyway. In the regular season, HD folks wave back about half the time. They are less likely to wave if they have ape hangers or short straight bars. Those guys almost never wave back, nor do they ride in the cold... poser dicks. The closer I get to Boston, the less likely I'll get a wave back too. What's up with that?

I put some driving lights on my Concours and they are kind of bright. From a fairly short distance they are bright enough to conceal what kind of bike I am on, even on a sunny day. The light pattern is quite similar to a Harley FLH. When I wave to Harley guys on that bike, they almost always start to wave back and some stop halfway when they "realize" I'm on a BMW (which about everyone thinks my Concours is). Amazing how Kawasaki can make a bike for 17 years, virtually unchanged, and people still don't know what it is. Great bike too.

I wave, as long as I'm safe to do so, to just about anybody on 2 wheels-- even scooters (aprillias included ).

I wave if I think about it, basically anytime I'm going pretty much straight.

Harley riders must sometimes think I'm on a Buell cause I have a round headlight. I can't tell the difference between most Japanese cruisers and Harleys anyway. They're all riders to me.

It pisses me off when the Harley guys give you a thumbs down or a middle finger though.

I have definitely noticed the get-closer-to-Boston effect. And I have also noticed that the guys who ride with Ape Hangers always look like they are completely miserable!

    yep

    I agree with Ben..

Most harley riders see the single headlight, and wave before they realize it's too late... I wave to pretty much everyone, but you know.. it still pisses me off when others don't wave back.. Street bike riders ALWAYS wave back, and the only exception is cornering or after dusk... I actually ride with a couple of harley riders..one of them pretty hardcore ( used to belong to one of them badass groups or something ), people still call him spider. He actually waves to everyone also..

It's kind of BS.. two wheels is two wheels. It almost like not shaking hands with a new friend just because they are of a different race.. WTF is up with that...

You want to see it real bad.. go to a couple of the laconia sites, and read their boards.. some serious hatred to sporbikes on there.

I had a friend who was trying to rag on me for waving to a guy on a goldwing. Thankfully the peeps I was with told him to shut his mouth before i got the chance. Oh yeh, he rides a gixxer.

I can't get cops to wave at me though. They always think I am harassing them or something. One time riding through mass on 2 I was goin through some town and ended up in traffic with a cop on a bike for like 15 minutes. He wouldn't even acknolodge(sp?) me, what a porker. I had full gear and luggage and everything too.

I don't wave at what appears to be a harley rider. I know they are better than me in their on special way.

I always wave at honda riders that have a nice ass.

Screw that.. Some friends and I were ripping through the Kanc this past summer and were coming up to the Lincoln side of the valley, There is a nice decreasing radius right hander slightly up hill just before a scenic over look.

We had 2 ZX?? coming at us All I know is they were green and stuck in traffic. We went through the conrer at a good 70-80mph and all 3 of us threw a hand up to wave. Dumb yes.. But to see their eyes just about pop out of their visors was kinda funny.

Most of my friends who ride Harley say that the V-rod isn't a Harley and they won't recognise it a one because it is liquid cooled. They are even judgemental of there own brand.

I love to do that. If your arms are loose on the bike, as they are supposed to be, doing this won't upset the bike as long as you are already at a steady state in the corner. Wouldn't try it if I were transitioning into a corner hot though.

How stupid. Talk about narrow minded. There are so many good reasons to dislike the V-Rod. Like: price, discomfort, terrible range, poor cornering clearance and the fact that most "real" bikers will assume you have a small penis if you ride an HD.

    What the fuck a Desmo?

Yeah, I'll wave at anybody. Don't matter if they react. I definitely like waving on corners, especially low ones; it usually gets a good reaction and if I crash from doing it they don't see me 'cause I'm already around the corner

I've got a bucket I wear around the beach in the Summer when out for a short cruise(and I don't recommend wearing one). One afternoon I threw the bird at some passing bikes while wearing the "twofinger" grin. That was funny: a couple sportbikers didn't know what to make of it(probably thought I was a Ducati snob like the above Honda guy), but I got a surprising number of fingers back from the HD folks, some even with smiles too.
    Maybe I was onto somthing...

That bidness about Harley folks ostracizing V-Rod's is for the birds, can't imagine why they'd get all worked up about it. Lot's of narrow-minds in the world. Most HD owners I know really dig it, and they all like to throw the V-Rod card when comparing HD's & sportbikes. Curiously, the HD riders I chat with don't talk about the Buels much.

What's all this crap about Honda Riders, Christ!!!!

As far as that Boston thing goes. I'm sure that's true, Bostonians are very cold. I'm an outsider I should know.

But I've had plenty of waves from the Boy's in blue, (when they are not pulling me over), both when they too are on bikes or even in there cages, and around Boston too!!)

If the Harley guys don't wave back, its probably because they are upset at the fact that they spent so much money on there American bikes but yet can't keep up with the Sport bikes that cost half as much.

As far as I'm concerned Two wheels are two wheels.
