    Re: 2-up/beginner/chill ride, Sat 5/24/08

Yeah, the stops happened more frequently than I wanted, but on the bright side, it gave the girls a chance to jump off & stretch their legs... and I think we all know it's a good thing for all man kind when the women are kept relatively happy

The route was nice... scenic... kinda what I was planning on anyway, though more traffic than I wanted... but still... it wasn't all that bad. I was hopin to at least make it up to Hampton Beach or even Kittery, but with the holliday traffic & scenic stops (Not as romantic as I was hoping... I'm disappointed in you, Schleppy ) that just wasn't gonna happen.

Most of us split up at the Clam Box where we all got some needed food in our bellies & a few of us continued on up to Plum Island. Unfortunately a bridge on 1A was closed down so we had to take a bit of a detour... but we made it to Plum Island, gave the girls another 5 minute break then headed back towards home.

After two more bikes parted ways it ended up being Cheeze, the guy on the 750 that you guys just met today, Jenni & Myself. We headed back to my Parents place, but not before we hit a couple of my local favorite secret twisties

aaaaand now Jenni's passed out on the couch so I'm gonna go do.... oh I dunno, probably something she wouldn't approve of before she wakes up

Glad you guys could all make it... Next ride I lead will have more twisties & less sight seeing

Yes, that bridge on 1A has been closed for a while now, guess I forgot to mention that when we were riding. ooops.

Just made it home. Thanks Pete for organizing and leading. I actually liked the frequency of the stops. It kind of sets the type of ride Pete was talking about originally.

As always, some great joking around and decent seat time.

made it to seacoast by 3:45. there was quite a bit of traffic on 133. but charles was a stand up guy for taking it in and pluggin it in to scan for codes. they found a few codes that have something to do with the front and rear intake manifolds or something. they are going to call aprilia this week and see whats up. the shitty running condition was the bike going into "limp mode". we'll see how everything goes this week.

Nice ride today! Thanks Pete for making the call, calling the route and not calling me any names that I could hear! Quite a change of pace for me...the location, pace, scenery, and I liked it a lot. It was exactly as you advertised...a 'chill' ride...and not leading meant I could just kick back and let it happen. Nice!

    Here are a few pics...
    ..add your own captions.

Thanks for the ride everyone. It was fun cruising my old stomping grounds.

    Re: 2-up/beginner/chill ride, Sat 5/24/08

Ugh! Picked up a nail on that ride yesterday. My bikes sittin' on the rear rim this morning. That makes 2 of us counting Philip. Well, roads up there should be cleaner for the rest of you.

    Dave,

If you haven't been up the coast I recommend it. Not as a fast ride but more of a scenic one. Head out early to avoid traffic and you'll enjoy it.

If you're looking to put the route into your GPS:

    Salisbury Beach
    Rye Beach
    Rye North Beach
    New Castle
    Kittery PointY
    York Beach
    Wells Beach

Should be about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Salisbury Beach to Wells Beach

Arg, missed this being planned - headed out to North Adams, then back inward with a loop around Quabbin.
Fun times, but next ride of this type you set up, I'll try to attend

I hope you guys found the Clam Box ok, and got the necessary fried nourishment you all wanted It started getting a little late for me, seeing as I told my GF I was going to be home earlier

Anywho, it was nice meeting you hooligans (and hooliganettes). We'll have to do this real soon.

    Thanks for organizing Pete !
