Just wanted to give folks an early heads up for the 2nd annual Run For The Hills weekend and bike show held at Mt. Snow, Vermont - this year on the weekend of Sept 27-28.
The inaugural event was a big hit last year and the organizers are promising even more to do this year.
The idea is to ride in on Friday or Saturday - then on Saturday many people go out for rides, the roads around this part of VT and north are fantastic, we had a group (among others) of 7 Ducks last year and what a ride - OR - there is a bike show at the mountain featuring all kinds of makes and models (the event is a European bike meet on paper, but there was everything from old HDs to new 999s on the lot last year). There are also events for family members who do not ride, trips to the top of Mt. Snow via the ski lifts, lift-accessed mountain biking on the ski trails, kids rides and an outdoor BBQ.
Saturday night everyone meets at the bar and then sits down for a steak, prime rib and/or Lobster dinner. The bar stays open LATE and people meet again on Sunday for brunch and to ride more or disperse.
This event was put together as a labor of love by a guy named Chuck French who rides a Ducati SS and works as a ski instructor in the cold months. It is a rider's event. Special rates will be made available in both mountain hotels, the Grand Jordan (new and nice) or the Ski Lodge (be as loud as you want). I'll post more details when the info hits the Mt. Snow website.
So get your riding buddies or families together for a great weekend of shredding the roads, eating, drinking and taking in the beautiful leaf season scenery. You won't regret it.
