    8/23 Ride to the Races

Nice ride today. Thanks Sheppo for leading.

    No drama...

One random accident. It was a squirrel...pretty sure it was dead. No one we know though. Might have been a BORN Squirrel...

Re: 8/23 Ride to the Races

Definitely a good ride to breakfast. Lots of TIGHT turns!!! U-turns that is. Sheppo was of course trying to show off all the features of Keith's "For Sale" R1 and he certainly made sure we all checked out that right turn signal. Miles and miles of right turn signal. What's red, has 4 letters and is shaped like an octagon? I forget the law but I think you're either supposed to put one foot down and count 3 Mississippis or just blow right on through at the posted speed limit.

Breakfast was yummy and the staff seemed to tolerate us. Everything we ordered they had (must just be Kerry that screws that up). After a slight hold up while we tried to remember powers of nine we paid the bill and continued on up to the track on a familiar route. Suppose I should officially apologize to the jogger on one of those side roads when she popped around the corner right at the apex and scared the $hit out of herself as I had one shoulder over the dirt and she was on the road. I missed ya by a mile but judging from the look you gave me, you think it was slightly less than that.

We hit Rt. 106 in the middle of a bike race so viewed the south side of cycling girls going north. No complaints there.

Arrived at the track and said goodbye to Nick. Guess we can't all keep our panties from bunching up.

Hot at the races but always a pleasure to watch you fast guys rip up the track. Mark and I left when the skies started to get kinda dark. We opted for the highway and made it home dry ................ er than expected.

Thanks for leading Sheppo and everyone else on the ride and at the track for another enjoyable day!

Re: 8/23 Ride to the Races

Another great ride to the races. Thanks Doug for organizing and leading (Even through we had to stay on our toes for missed turns.) Great to see the familiar faces and the new faces as well.

I got home at about 7:10. Doug, if you think that the downpour we pulled off 93 for was bad, you should've been through the one I hit just after I got onto 495. I kept riding though, since my shirt was already soaked through. It stopped then I hit one last rain through the Marlboro area.

Got some great racing pics too. Started a new thread for it:

Thanks for pulling that ride together Sheppo. I had never been to the track before and watching the racers come through the bowl area was impressive as hell. It was good to meet a few new folks too.

Great seeing you all. I was the one on the Lil Hawk that had to quickly run out for corner working in the Bowl (T6). See you all next time. Hopefully I get to spend time in the garages As I get ready for the races.

Nice pick up of the fallen rider in the bowl too. It looked scary for a minute.

Re: 8/23 Ride to the Races

I was thinking; why was that overtaking rider moving to the right. Then I knew it was going to happen. There was contact coming down just past the top of the hill, about the first cone. His upper fairing was up against the 2nd maybe third cone.

Rider was fine. Very slowly moving. Took precautions.

our plan worked perfectly. Jim never found us.

Looking at Kenns pictures from behind a fence, for future reference if you want to, youre allowed to walk to the end of pit road, you cant see 2 very well, but you get an upclose view of 1 and a decent show of 1a. And no fence.

Yeah I know now. When I was with Rob and Mark and I took Pete's wheelie in pit row. Was my first time and didn't know where I could go. Was kind of a bummer at first... Every body took off.. Who should I tag along with?? It all worked out good.
