April 25 Ride to the Races - Short Report!

On Weds I was pretty sure the weather was going to have me tugging at my ears trying to decide whether to postpone this ride or tough it out in the rain. A great Saturday forecast was in the offing and a bunch of you took advantage and pulled together a ride to Parkers and then to the track.

By Friday, the weather prognosticators were making me crazy. (OK, crazIER!) It was like watching a beautiful girl disrobe and then having those black censorship bars superimposed. You knew it could be great but it was still all left to your imagination!

While some were off Saturday I was home doing those things that let me do other things! In my house, tilling a garden = 1 whole day of riding. Seems fair to me. (I still haven't found the answer to X= new Multistrada.)

I called the Lion and told them that instead of 30 we might be more like 20. (That message was never communicated to Jeremy)

By Saturday night the censorship bars had gotten pretty tiny...more like pasties! And Sunday was looking great! But I was still uncertain of the turnout.

I arrived at Seacoast at 8:30 and there were already a 1/2 dozen of the regulars waiting. Jim had just arrived with Coffee and Donuts, and after he declined our offer of assistance in moving some bikes out of the way, he got the waivers ready as riders continued to arrive!

After the 3-4 stragglers arrived late, and we ran through a short riders meeting, 32 riders departed from Seacoast! My old friend Chris ran Sweep and once we got through the nonsence that is Derry, we had a great ride to Deerfield where we swarmed the Lazy Lion Cafe! Eventually everyone was seated. About 27 outside and 3 more inside. And then 5 more late rising riders showed up and that about closed the cafe to outsiders!

The folks did a great job and we were back on the road by 11:05. Unless your name is Joe. Apparently he never did get served. Again...? I suggest he needs to run a balance check on his Karma ATM!

Another 45 mintes of spirited riding brought us over Louden Ridge Road, down to 106 and to the track by a little before noon.

From then most everyone split up! I took the Brutale twins around and introduced them to a few folks!

    And the weather...
...well, lets say, nothing was left to the imagination!

Thanks all for coming along! Thanks to Chris and Bill for running sweep. Thanks to Nick for scaring any deer or moose into the next county with his custom Buell exhaust!

    Great bunch...great riders! Much appreciated!

Look forward to next months ride...which may be changed to Curtis Ribs Ride to align with the NEDOC Meet in the Middle ride....stand by for that!

    A few pics from yesterday...!

As always Lauren and I had a fantastic time riding with Dave and the rest of you hooligans we've gone on so many rides with. It's too bad we didn't make it to seacoast on time, Lauren was geared up and ready to ride but I slept in then had to do my hair.

Thanks Dave for a great ride. It was nice seeing some familiar faces as well as meeting some new ones. I am going to try and make a few more of these this season!

Should rode again, but driving like a hooligan can be just as much fun as riding like one.
