September 23, 2007
A high-speed motorcycle chase Saturday evening ended with Connecticut man in jail and his two traveling companions still at large.
Vermont State Police took Frank Bolick, 25, of Milford, Conn., into custody near Richmond at 5:50 p.m. after tracking the progress of three motorcycles through Northfield, Middlesex, Waterbury and Bolton.
Bolick has been charged with attempting to elude police officers, gross negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and several other traffic offenses. He will appear in Washington County District Court at 12:30 p.m. today.
A state police news release said that troopers tempered, or downgraded, their full pursuit of the speeders after observing the three riders travelling in excess of 100 mph on Interstate 89 and secondary roads, passing on blind corners and otherwise compromising public safety.
Bolickç—´ vehicle collided with a police cruiser at a roadblock near Richmond. He was traveling between 3 and 5 mph at the time, the police report states. Bolick was not injured in the crash.
At least one of the remaining motorcyclists eluded capture by racing away on a sidewalk.
Bolick told police he did not know the full identity of his traveling companions, who are believed to be fellow residents of Connecticut.
Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the other motorcyclists is asked to call VT Crime Stoppers at (800) 529-9998.
