    Long day ride idea

I was thinking of an all back-road day ride from Southern NH to Dixville Notch and back. Anyone here ride much up that way? I was looking at a map and Route 16 north of Berlin looks like it might be fun. Route 26, route 3, and route 110 look like they might be fun too and would make a decent loop. I have ridden lots of good routes south of Berlin but never north of it. Probably be a 500-600 mile day. I have no desire to use highways but the route could be planned to run close to 93 for the return leg so the option would be there if fatigue was a problem. I was thinking 107 to 4 to 202 to 153 to 113 to 2 to 16 on the way up and 16 to 302 to Bear Notch Road to 112 to 175 to 132 to 106 to 140 to 107 on the way back.

Anyone interested in joining me this Spring/Summer?

I agree with you on that stretch of 113 but I don't think I can squeeze it into this ride. I intend to ride 113 from Fryburg through Evan's Notch up to route 2. Evan's Notch is quite nice, especially on a really hot day because it's almost completely shaded and being in valley, quite cool. The road is fun too.

Looks like there are enough folks interested. I'll make some serious plans. I'll then throw out the serious plans and we can use the patented "silly plans" for the ride. No ride is complete without a "silly plan".

"serious plans" Are the plans I always intend to make. I then procrastinate until I reach the "fuck it, it's too late to make serious plans" stage. At that point, I have accepted that I am doomed to sub-mediocrity in everything I do (just like my high school guidance counseler predicted) and forge ahead with a "let's wing it and see what happens" attitude. For some reason, divine intervention I suspect (and I'm not even religious), this method has always worked pretty well for me and I'm surprised by my good luck in the end.

I should probably seek professional help, I know.

I ride north on 153 then take my secret roads that avoid conway & fryburg to 113 thru Evans notch then usually head east to newry, me and take 26 to errol or I go further east to Rumford then head north on 17 to Rangeley then soutn on 16 to north Conway and zip over hurricane Mtn Rd and retrace my route south to 153. it makes for heathy daylong ride, one time I went north from rangeley thru Eustus, Lac Mégantic, Que to Armstrong, Que then south on 201 to Madison, Me thru Farmington, ME rt 2, Evans Notch, & back home in a lllooonnnggg day (14 hrs)
