I have lots of beer that needs to get divided up among trucks other than just my own. No way in hell I'm getting free beer for everyone AND paying for the gas to get it down there myself. Last time mike took a couple cases and that was it(thanks mike!). I had more weight in beer than bike in the back of the truck.....
This year my little Taco will be towing 3 bikes, plus gear and gas prices are pretty close to last septembers Katrina frenzy (WTF??? there was no hurricane last month!). I can't take all the beer.
I've decided to go with bottles again. Kegs would be too much work for me at this point. Kegs will skunk if they warm up and people are too picky when it comes to their favorite beer. Bottles are just easier for us, and we can leave the extras with Ron and Nancy.
Here is what I'll be supplying:
3 cases IPA ( for me and KB, HOPS RULE)
3 cases Country Ale
1 case Blueberry + tampons (for BRUCE, you girl!)
1 case Nut Brown
1 case Black Shack (if we have it)
1 case Quinn's Amber
3 cases Summer Breeze (mmmm, like a Corona, but without the piss)
4 growlers (.5gallon) of MONSTA(have to stay COLD until drank)
I'm taking Friday, the 5th off so people can come up and get the beer anytime that day or the day before.
I know this was a problem last year, so just to give you guys an idea, this is about $430 worth of beer...for free.... if I get no help, I'll be bringing enough for myself and Mike and KB(they helped last year). Plus it's a two hour round trip to buy beer down there since it is a dry county. I know most of you live about an hour from me, so you have a choice. Drive up here and spend two hours before vacation, or waste valuable riding time during vacation and have to pay for it.
With 14 or so people going, I have to estimate that at least 5 trucks are going down. That's about 3 cases per truck. Just keep it out of direct sunlight and it'll be happy, no ice necessary (unless you wanna drink it at rest areas and gas stations on the ride down, KB...ha ha ha ha ha).
We'll also need some LARGE coolers to ice it down once we're there. I can bring one, possibly two. We'll need at least 4.
I will still entertain the idea of bringing two kegs if you guys wanna help decide what beer. I was thinking Summer Breeze (easy to drink LOTS of it, it's a light wheat beer with a hint of lemon in it, goes great with a slice of lime) and IPA (KB). If you guys can get them down there cold, I'll make it happen.
