    Deal's Gap in mid October?

Anyone ride down there that time of year? Last friend who went basically rode through a giant rain storm so I don't have any good data.

I have a business meeting near Charlotte so I'm thinking about leaving a few days early.

I think you mean "deal's" gap

Never been in October, but when I did go, it was really fun.

In mid-October you might be dealing with a lot of wet leaves on the road. Then again, if it's an early fall, the leaves might already be all down by then up in the mountains.

That timing isn't the safest bet, but since it's the only time you have available, so be it. You should still be able to get in some good riding provided it's dry.

remember it's 1000 miles south, so their foliage season runs about 3 weeks later than here in New England

Newfound Gap in late October, leaves are turning, but not fallen off like here

In the mountains of West Virginia, the timing runs about the same as up here (or at least it did last year); I was figuring there wouldn't be much of a difference between the mountains of NC and WV. Good to know though.

I can believe that, your in Champlain valley, I just based my opinion on photos, I haven't been there during foliage, I'm sure the highest elevations are nearly at the same time as here, hell, theres a 3 weeks difference between northern NH (north of notches) and seacoast foliage, there's prolly a couple weeks between Champlain valley and northeast kingdom foliage

I know that when I have traveled to Deal's in the spring, there are barely buds on the leaves, and down there, they are in full bloom, then I get back, leaves here are halfway out. I'm thinking ya don't begin to see a lot of leaf litter down there till almost November
