On the western edge of the loop, heading south from Lyme to Canaan on the Grafton TPK road....that road is all dirt from the Dartmouth ski-way to Canaan. Sometimes it's mudy as well, as there is swamps and the road bed is low. If by chance it has recently been graded, it will be a nightmare for anyone not running knobbed tires...
Of course the KLR would love it

It's on rt 104 in New Hampton. Take exit 23 off 93 towards Meredith. Its about 4 miles up on the left.

And to get there by 0800 leave your house at 0530, or leave at 0600 and ride faster, or leave at 0630 and ride really fast.

3 hours? I am leaving from Nashua, so it is about 45 minutes from here...or shorter.

If anyone is riding up from Ma, and wants to meet up on the way up 93 let me know....

yeesh...it's 3h15m from us as well...8:00 a.m. is early, that would be a lot of riding in one day for us with not much time to rest. We'll see when we get there...

I get there in 2 1/2 hours from RI going around 70. You are about the same distance just on the other side. I think google bases it on 60mph. I can get into Meredith in 2 1/2 most Fridays if I miss the traffic.

I don't know that area all that well so I just looked on the map and picked a fairly straightforeward back road - got a suggestion around it?

People can stay at my place in Alton the night before if they don't want the long drive early in the morning - there's extra beds / couches etc. PM me if you like.

Your motorcycle won't poke you in the back in the morning when it wants to go for a ride

From Orford it would probably be better to head back over 25a to Wentworth to 25 and back down. You could go south on RT10 but then you have to deal with Hanover and lebanon, and RT4...traffic. Lots of it.

Heading back over 25a is going to knock a good amount of miles off your loop unfortunately.

Everyone been up MT washington on bikes yet? that might be a fun substitute. Or could head over Hurricane mtn road, then up RT 113 through Evans notch (awesome scenery)....but that's a huge addition and Hurricane mtn road is kinda crazy.

I'll look into that. Dumping back onto 25 and then taking 118/25 from the lower section isn't too bad but will knock off some miles. I was actually considering trying to do that anyway cause of the time-frame. Google lists this as 6hrs of ride time. Saddle time would prolly be a little less given speeds slightly above speed limit but when you add in stops - it'll be longer than that. Figure we meet at 8, hit the road around 9 once stragglers get there and people chat a bit, stops for fuel and lunch and scenic type areas if people like - well, you're adding a good chunk of time. Then people have to travel home or to a party or whatever. So that will prolly work out better. Thanks for the suggestion.

I didn't add Hurricane Mtn due to the time and because I wanted to avoid Conway on a Sat.

I wasn't thinking about the stops breaks hang out chat stragglers etc. My bad.

The way to do hurricane mtn road and avoid conway (for future reference, perhaps) is head over the kanc east, hit bear mtn road and then east to hurricane mtn rd. Miss conway completely. Bear mtn road however is a tad rough.

Sorry about the grafton tpk road, it's kinda cool in a sense, desolate, nothing there but road, trees, swamp, big foots....for a few miles.

That's one of the things with a group ride that you need to consider - every stop takes considerably longer. Simple gas stop is not 5 minutes like it should be. Usually ends up being a decent brake with gearing down/cooling off, drinks, gassing up 15+ bikes....

Grafton Tnpk is not terribly far from my house (I'm guessing 45min or less) so I may hit that one day on the KLR to try to track down my long lost friend Yeti. I think we're related to I'd like to meet him.

Good heads up for Hurricane Mtn - I'll have to try that one of these days on the trips over to Maine.

Looks like there are gonna be a few. If not, many are leaving from southern NH you might be able to meet up with for the ride up.

I know that it's early for most but just consider not drinking on Fri night and getting some sleep early. Thanks to all those that are offering their places up on Fri and Sat night. Again, if you're in a pinch, want to go and have a distance to travel - let me know, I have space, a fire pit, a large yard, garage, 42" plasma with surround and a friendly dog named Max.
