If I don't stay in Westminister the night before you can use my couch. I'll know more when the time gets closer. Most likely I'll be staying further west myself!

Because as the newbie rider I am not getting up at the crack of dawn and riding out that way either..I'm sure I'll need a break before the ride..

Thats what I'm going to look into when we get a starting point..

I know we end up in the Berkshires

I know that riding east of Quabbins is a Yawner

But perhaps in deference to all our
Boston and Boston burb attendees is there a decent meeting spot

closer to them like in Palmer for a shot
to Belchertown-shutesbury-rt 116

Note this only cuts off 25 minutes so maybe not so good

just an idea i will shut up now

Gardner is a pretty decent meeting spot. It's been used before, has food, is right on Rt.2 and is only 45 minutes away from the good stuff.

I used to live up in Topsfield. Moved to Boston back in December. That what threw ya off?

West Springfield is very near to the crossroads of I91 & the Mass Pike and has quite a few places to stay/eat, with a Boston Billiards nearby. The "good stuff" begins about 10 miles away.

thats just what I was thinking Chr1s!!!

I will take the Pike from my house and it takes about 45 - 1 hour and the good roads are just around the bend!

As of right now I have two idea's for routes. One is heading into VT, the other is westerm mass out to NY loop south and head back into the southern section of western Mass and get everyone back close to the highways again for a quick departure home, or Follow me on the back roads around the Quabbin Res heading east towards Boston.

I formallize while I am away and when I return from vaaction on the 12th.

You know I would tool to Westfield but there seemed to be a lot of whining about gettin out there.

I would think that the Mass pike is still the best answer
to heading out from Boston

I have never liked rt 2

If its a monster group ride is the intention then I would like to see what would garner the biggest attendence is all

I'll be coming from Boston and can meet people at the usual MotoMart and then meet up with the rest of the group from there.
Is this gonna be a ridiculously early like 8:30 a.m meeting?
That kinda sucks on a weekend, especially if you are all meeting up like 2 hours from Boston.
I'll keep an eye on this post and as of now I'm still in.

Why don't we meet at the Bean and ride from there - lots of good roads and from what I can tell, a hell of a lot closer to everyone than Springfield?

From the bean we can ride as a group anywhere...

I am pretty far away from whereever the meeting spot is....when he decides, and posts up, I will figure out how to get there on time

I can pretty much cancel any plans that involve drinking on Friday night!!

If you want a somewhat central meeting spot for all those south/east of western mass, why not meet in Sturbridge, MA. Its exit 7? I believe off the pike, and pretty easily accessible from points south as well. If the meeting spot is more on the southern end of w. mass, take the pike out, if the meeting spot will be a little more northern, I know a quick, easy route (with several twisties as well) that will spit you out in Warren/Ware, MA on route 9, and from there its 30 minutes to Amherst/rt. 116.

Or we could all just shut up and wait for Half Squidly to come up with his own plans.

Mike already said we'll be meeting somewhere in the Springfield area. If people want to meet up in separate locations (VBean, MM, whatever) & have their own little group ride to the main Springfield meeting spot then so be it... but it's Mike's decision on where the final meeting spot will occurr & what time we're all heading out.
