Recently did a track day at Kaeng Krachan Circuit in Cha-am, Thailand. It was surprisingly, an amazing track and I had a great time! Check out my blog.

Wow...that is cool! I really want to visit Thailand someday...on the list! Now...add a track day? Ya!

What did it cost to rent equipment (or did you bring your own) bike, (also?) and track time? I have been to the Philippines several times and did not even think to do a track day while there. I did borrow my nephews XR set up as a super moto which was crazy fun and nextime I will see if I can ride it on a go cart track (saw someone did this with a ninja 250). You are so lucky to be able to travel and ride in so many countries. I don't know much about you but I have read on this site that you have traveled to Thailand and Australia and ridden/raced in both. YES I am jealous you seem to have a great life. Hope I get to talk to you at some of the track days in this country.
That is a ridiculous looking track! Love it!!

Kump where's all the on board vids man?
I have an on board video for Kaeng Krachan, but in Australia, WIFI is NOT FREE anywhere! They have internet cafes here where you go into a room with a bunch of computers and pay to use internet. I don't have video from Sepang cause I didn't have the proper mount (I have Contour Roam, they use GoPro) for their rental bikes, and in Phillip Island, no one is allowed a video camera for insurance purposed and people suing each other!

Dave,
I've been out of pocket for a while and so may have missed it, but has anyone formally nominated you for "Most Epic Track Trip of All Time" (affectionately known by those in the know as "METTOAT")? If not, I do so nominate thee.

"Throughout the day, I noticed many locals crossing through the track on their scooters as a shortcut home. There was even a dirt bike that crested over the hill in front of me, almost running on the track and directly into me!"
WTF!
After a month in Australia, camping and rock climbing in the outback, I'm back to civilization with WIFI! Here is the video from Kraeng Krachan Circuit in Cha-am, Thailand.

What kind of bike were you on? Sounds like a v-twin. How come the track is so empty, too?

Good guess Sam, the bike they rented were 08 Kawasaki ER6n which is not available in the US, but is basically a naked Ninja 650R, which has the exact same specs as a SV650. Track was so empty cause, including the instructor, there were total of 5 bikes on the track the whole time with a group of 8 that showed up for 1 session during lunch, and a few cars. By the last session of the day, everyone was pooped but I was only able to convince one other ride to do the last session with me. Check out the link to my blog which talks all about it!

I really enjoy reading of your world travels and riding some cool tracks. But, I have to ask: Did you win the lottery or something? OR, is this a work-related trip?
Sorry, I'm just a bit envious of what seems like a trip that most of us can only dream about.
Anyway, enjoy your travels and I will continue to read about it and hope I may be able to do something similar in my lifetime.

Hey man, no lottery, not work related. I don't have kids, but I do have a mortgage, and I do have family in Thailand which is a good jumping off point because its centrally located. We spent a month in Thailand with a week in Malaysia for Sepang and a month in Australia. Thailand and Malaysia is quite cheap for food and accommodation. Most of Australia is quite expensive so we actually hitch-hiked everywhere, occasionally dove in the dumpster for food, and tent camped while rock climbing. Other than being in a tent we stayed at my family's house in Thailand, youth hostels in Malaysia and Australia, and went supermarket shopping and cooked food every night at the youth hostels and while camping. The part of the world is so far away that any trip shorter than 1 week is just not worth it because you will need at least a week to get acclimated to the 12hr time difference. Also, if we came home any earlier flights are really expensive during Xmas and New Years. So we left before Thanksgiving and back long after the holiday rush to get the cheapest tickets available. We both own our own business so we can take this kinda time off too. The expensive part is the flights and the track day with bike rental, but its once in a lifetime, right??

That's awesome! Congratulations on doing it. Sounds like you had an absolute blast. I'll be looking for you at the track to ask you more about your adventures.

Man U were flying. The title confused me as I kept waiting for the high side that never happened.
Haahaaa! Thanks man. Yeah the company's name is High Side Tour which is because originally they wanted to do 300+ cross country motorcycle trips across Thailand, hence the "Tour" part of their name. Had I "high side" their bike, it wouldn't have been bad. I think if I ran into a wall, and the bike burst into flames, all I would have to pay is $300. Sepang was not so forgiving, and Phillip Island was rediculously expensive had I even thought about going down!
