Shiraz: Mitolo Savitar McLaren Vale Shiraz ~$50
The Shiraz is UNBELIEVEABLE. Both Wines will pair really well with what you are preparing.
If you really want to splurge on Mom, instead of the Mitolo wine, go with a 1998 Ch. Gruaud Larose. The right bank in Bordeaux did much better than the left in 1998, and this wine is drinking nicely right now for about $75-$100, and it is well worth the price.

Capt, if you go hiking up there make sure you hit Vaginal Valley, it has some fantastic views but be careful because it can get a little wet.
