Re: Maine Indoor Karting - $11 races in October

The karts at checkered flag are governed crippled. There is some process where regulars can "qualify" to run the karts de-restricted. I was part of a private event there where we talked them into doing heats and a main. They turned the cars up for the main. Made that dinky course a bit more interesting. They restrict both the power AND the brakes. I was pretty impressed at what the karts are capable of.. not impressed at how badly they restrict them.

Doesn't change the lame-ass course though.

New K1 tracks look about a billion times more interesting. 15 min from my office.

I've also done F1 outdoor in East Bridgewater. That's a pretty fun track. Much of it is held wfo.

So when are we doing a recon trip to figure out if it is worth going to?

i did the F1 outdoor once with my wife. the immense amount of grip on asphalt is insane. we were the only ones there. the guy let us run unsupervised for probably 30 min. i was so physically beat that after i lapped my wife (giggity) i couldnt keep her behind me (giggity) and she actually passed me fair and square.

I can only do Wednesday night or anytime on Thursday this week. Anyone in?

I stopped by there today. Looks pretty good. Two different tracks, one longer and faster the other shorter and tighter. Pricing can be found on their website www.k1speed.com pretty reasonable though. Three races is $45 plus a $6 license good for a year I think. They have other packages too that are slightly better deals but only worth it if you'll be there alot.

Is the title of this thread Maine Indoor Karting or Massachusetts Indoor Karting?!? Get your own thread

And honestly, I have to drive past MIK to get to Wilmington so I am going to say I am out. When you are ready to talk about Maine again, let me know.

Wow! All the times that people have made the drive to Maine to go to MIK and the first time someone suggests going someplace else and this is the love we get.........we see how it is.

Even after the treatment us southerners received when suggesting an alternative location this post garnered my interest. Guess it depends on whether I can make it up there at a reasonable time. Let us know what time you will be there and I'll see if I can figure out how to be there.

I s'pose if folks can trek over here for ice, I can go over there for karts. At this rate I can take the bike.

Yeah, I was exhausted from back to back 16+ hour days of travel/work so the drive wasn't very appealing to me last night. As with Kerry if it happens another Wednesday I'll try to make it.
