The karts at checkered flag are governed crippled. There is some process where regulars can "qualify" to run the karts de-restricted. I was part of a private event there where we talked them into doing heats and a main. They turned the cars up for the main. Made that dinky course a bit more interesting. They restrict both the power AND the brakes. I was pretty impressed at what the karts are capable of.. not impressed at how badly they restrict them.
Doesn't change the lame-ass course though.
New K1 tracks look about a billion times more interesting. 15 min from my office.
I've also done F1 outdoor in East Bridgewater. That's a pretty fun track. Much of it is held wfo.
