Know a good route for new riders?

Thought it might be good to have a thread for reviewing/suggesting new routes....

So, anybody know some good routes in the Boston-Metro area for new riders? Thanks...

The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.

I'm told you can avoid crippling traffic and idiot drivers by heading due east a mile or two

In all seriousness, having never ridden into Boston, I would be surprised as hell to hear there's any decent roads for new riders inside the 95/128 belt. As facetious as T's comment may have sounded, highways are actually many times safer as far as rider deaths per mile travelled, you might actually have your best luck shooting up 93 or west across the pike to less populated roads. But I'm sure a rider closer to you could offer better advice than me, I only ride into MA if I have no other choice...

just head west on Rte 2.
like 10-15 minutes to get to MM, lots of fun roads out that way, try circling around westford and areas like that.
just be careful, some of the roads are a little narrow and cars come towards ya on the wrong side of the road more often than not.

get your map out, i'll show ya.
i used to just go out there and get my self real lost exploring the area. i never really did get unlost or learn my way through there well, but i always found my home.

i don't like 2, just cuz there are major parts of it that are just fast & straight. bleah. too heavily travelled.

i actually got a lot mileage out of getting myself lost on side roads between sudbury and belmont, basically. lot of places where you can just make a right or a left off a main thoroughfare and find a mile or two of nice, quiet road.

maybe i'll steal christina's kat for an hour or two some day and show you some of the places i can think of. too hard to describe in type.

route two isn;t the fun part.
the fun part is all the backroads behind and around MM and out that general.
Route 2 is just the easiest way to get out there.

    Touche!

no touching the kat, unless you can fix my other menace. then you still have to ask christina *really* nicely. she is very protective.

Yah ride out 2 or the pike and check out Lincoln, Weston, Bedford, Lexington, Concord, Carlisle, Acton, etc...

Just watch out, there is still some sand around. Just enough left that you think it's clear and start riding a little faster and BAM all of a sudden a patch of sand suprises you.

Yesterday I was in Weston and I nailed the throttle as I crested a hill.. just to run into a big pile of sand at the top of the hill... not quite a butt-pucker moment but it was exciting... (Little shake of the bars and spin of the rear wheel, etc.. ) Good thing I was going straight at the time.

    Ben
