Consisted of a 649.3 mile ride home on the Bmmer...
What a cool trip I had yesterday.
I finished my customer POC (Proof of Concept) on Thursday afternoon in Herndon, Va. I decided that I would get rested Thursday and head out Friday morning to come home.
First decision I made Friday morning was to use a little highway as possible, so with that I headed West out of Herndon, Va.
I was heading West through the Shenandoah valley area when I saw an exit that said "some rt. # North" (I don't recall the actual rt#, I think it may have been 17 or 17 or ???) so, I exited...
Thus began my plan. If the road said "North" and wasn't a major highway, I took it. (I did have a map with me just in case...)
My ride took me into Western Maryland and then into Central Pennsylvania. Once in Pa. I decided I needed to head "East" as well, if I ever wanted to make it back to NH.
Taking the backroads through Pa. was Beautiful. The weather was great, and the scenery was awesome. At this point, I think I was about 400 miles into my trip and still almost no slab! I continued to head Northeast, and lo and behold, I end up in the Pocono's region!!!
More gorgeous riding.
From there I headed into Upstate NY. Now, it's getting late, and my ass was starting to get sore....
At this point, I decided I was going to abandon my "back roads plan" and slab it home.
So, I headed East to the New York State thruway north. While on the Thruway, I had an interesting encounter with a NYS "statie". While on the thruway heading North, I was in the right lane @ approximately 80 - 82 mph. There's no cages around me anywhere, and I'm just cruising. This statie pulls up to in the left hand lane, and I look over at him. He gives the "slow down" signal. I slow down a bit, give him the "thumbs up", and he pulls away.... Needless to say, I was pretty impressed with this cop, as he could have been an asshole and pulled me over.
Anyway, I slabbed it up to the Mass Pike, Headed North on '91 and got home about midnight last night.
Almost 650 miles... That was a ride man.
Quite a workday, huh?
So, this leads me to the question.
What's the most any of you have done on a single day? (On a bike...)
That was the most I've ever done on a bike.
Now I need to gather up the energy to head to Seans party and meet some of you in person...
