Re: mzdagrl's Annual Slowbie Newbie Ride
Are you still able to meet up with me? I just found out you moved from Sharon to Quincy. That would be out of the way for you to back track like that. I would suggest finding someone closer to you to ride up with, unless you don't mind riding 30 miles in the wrong direction to meet me.

Re: mzdagrl's Annual Slowbie Newbie Ride
Updated route coming tonight - keep your eyes peeled for details. Also, is there a preference to lunch? I am thinking either a pizza/sub shop, or fried-seafood-type place.
Also, keeping my eyes on the weather.

Fall works, too - don't really care when it is as long as it'll be on two wheels.
Figures, I notice the open spot only after I've made weekend plans . Sept./Oct. it is; here's hoping the weather holds for everyone else on Saturday.

Checking in on that updated route...?

Sorry, between the babysitter being on vacation, carting my kid all over the state for daycare and being short-handed at work, I've been busy this week. Since I suck at making google maps work for me, the basic gist is as follows:
Meet at Dunkin Donuts in Jaffrey
head south on 202 into winchendon, MA.
Backroads over to Gardner, where we pick up 68N
32N
Rte 10N
Rte 123 or 31 S (need to double check dirt condition tonight or tomorrow to choose 1)
Lunch in Hillsboro, NH (either pizza or seafoody-type stuff. we can jointly decide day-of, or let me know a preference now)
149E
77S
136W back to Peterborough
202S back to the meet spot in Jaffrey.
Rob and I will likely be heading down to do breakfast near the meet point (there is a cafe in that same plaza) if people care to join us around 8AM. We'll be doing rider's meeting at 9, stands up at 9:15. Please come properly geared, gassed, and ready to ride. The route will take approximately 5 hours including a one hour stop for lunch. We will be stopping every so often for rest breaks. I try not to go more than 90 mins continuous. We will also make a gas stop in Hillsboro when we stop for lunch, so please plan accordingly.
Rain - the forecast keeps flip flopping, so at this point we are ON for Saturday. As long as the chance of rain holds at or below 50%, we will be riding. If it creeps above that, we will postpone til Sunday (unless Sunday looks awful too). Bring appropriate rain gear, dry bags, etc in the event of showers. I will make a final call Friday afternoon and post up here if it is ON or not.

Sounds good, and I'll eat anything regarding lunch.

Re: mzdagrl's Annual Slowbie Newbie Ride
oh wow the ride to jaffrey i an hour and a half...I live in the Windham/Derry/Salem area. Anyone coming from around here want to make the trip over with me?
-
Re: mzdagrl's Annual Slowbie Newbie Ride
Is this the location for this Dunkin Donuts you mentioned?
80 Peterborough Street #1
Jaffrey, NH 03452
Also, I will be coming from Quincy MA. So if anyone is from the area between me and Jaffrey NH, let's travel up together.

We will be leaving from Hampstead at around 7:15 (earlier if i can convince my SO). If you have a good location on 111 to meet at we'd be happy to meet up. I keep getting advice from GPS to take 101 through Manchester, but I'd rather do back roads (mostly) through Nashua (gotta find a bridge). I could be convicted otherwise.
Let me know. Open to options (like meeting up at BK at exit four off 93 as well)

Unless directed otherwise that's the address I was planning to show up at. There seems to be a quickstop (Mr. Mikes) at 50 Peterborough street to fuel up before hand as well.
I don't do much weekend riding in Boston so can't help much with routes.

Ha, you city people. There is only one Dunkin Donuts in Jaffrey. And, yes, that is the one. It's across from Mcdonald's.

Here is a screen cap of the route, as best I could. The 123 option is in blue.
I have a .gpx file as well, but cannot load it. I'll email it to Keira.
Have fun and be safe!

Re: mzdagrl's Annual Slowbie Newbie Ride
Both days now look iffy weather-wise. If Sunday continues looking gross, we will stick with Saturday, rain or shine.
Final decision will be made by 5PM today
