Alright, by "popular demand" (ie like 3 people) i'm gonna HELP organize a little Nashua/Hollis run this weekend.... and by "HELP" i mean i'm just gonna start this thread & get everyone workin on the same page as far as organization goes
![]()
I called an old college buddy/roommate of mine from Daniel Webster College (right there in nashua next to the airport) & am waiting for him to get back to me. Hopfully he's free either day & can come allong on his '00 R6.
only plans so far - just run around Hollis, Nashua ETC. a little bit... nothin insane... no wheelies, burnouts etc in populated areas (or at all by myself... maybe little 2" wheelies though) Gonna keep a relatively decent pace, nothin insane though. No knee draggin, but have some fun.... i think you guys get what i'm sayin.
probably stop for food, maybe swing by Boston Billiards right there on Rte 3 (pretty sure it's 21+ on the weekends... not sure)
anyways... you guys are welcome to throw some ideas & your availability out there

I may be in, I have a stupid family party on sunday and I'm being dragged to Country Fest on saturday. I would be up for a morning ride either day however.
Lets see, hunnies in nashua, that means drive the Daniel Webster Highway to Main St to Amherst St loop at night.
Otherwise it would be Hooters.
Or or we could go to the mall....NO!

HBerry,
You asked us for advice in another thread and now I see you talking about going out for a group ride... You got the new ZX-6 against everyone's recommendations, and have not taken the MSF course yet, and are riding around anyway. Going on a group ride already without taking the training, you are doing your absolute best to make your Mother's fears come true.
If you are going to ride around anyway, you should be avoiding group rides like the plague. Please ride by yourself until you take the course. (Ideally park the bike and do not even sit on it till you take the course) If you had taken the course already, I would say ride by yourself for the breakin period on your bike (~1000 miles) and then maybe you can think about going on a group ride. Even that is probably very early to be going on a group ride unless the group is very small and everyone knows you very well.
There are certainly some of us on this site who would know to slow WAY down if you were riding with us, but many riders won't necessarily know to do this. Any group ride you go on right now is going to be way over your head. Right now you need to be concentrating 100% on riding safely, you will not have the extra mental capacity left over to handle the extra danger and requirements of a group ride.
In fact, one other recommendation is don't ride anywhere yet that you are not extremely familiar. Stick to your hometown. If you decide to ride somewhere new, you have to concentrate on riding and finding your destination. Just that little extra time to look at street signs, etc.. will bump up your danger factor big time. (I know Nashua is your hometown)
I started riding in Nashua, if I were you I would avoid the group rides, do not go anywhere near Daniel Webster Highway, or the Mall or Bike night in Lowell, do not go riding out at night yet. Just go out on a saturday or sunday morning by yourself when there is no traffic, and ride out to Hollis where there are less dangerous things going on and you can concentrate on learning to ride. The more extra things you throw at yourself, the more likely you are to have a bad accident.
I know that is going to be hard as it sounds like you are interested in the social aspects of having a bike. Be careful out there!

To be honest although I was talking about a group ride, as I hinted I would probably not going to around and I probably wouldnt have ridden even if I met up with you guys.
My trip to bike night last night, which I discovered was ending when I got there, was in a car as it will be until I get a handle of the bike.
Knowing the way that jackasses drive near the mall, main st, and amherst st, I would not be interested in driving there. Right now I am driving around the chelmsford/westford area because that is where my girlfriend lives and where I am storing the bike.
So now that I have made myself look like an ass by saying I was interested in a ride and you all know that I would have actually backed out, you know the truth.
I have already learned how much I need to respect the bike by an incident I had on saturday night when I almost ran it through the back wall of the garage.

Also the add to that, I am riding around under the supervision of someone of 30+ years experience who is teaching me what to do as I ride and I am riding on very back roads where I see maybe 3-5 cars in 20 minutes of riding.

This thread is now officallly trashed.
Hberry,
Just take it at your own pace. The bike will only go as fast as you twist your wrist. I will ride with you any time you want.
Ben,
relax.
I Suck and I know it. Everybody else, Have a nice day.

Make this a saturday ride starting in Nashua and riding out to Bellows Falls, VT or something like that and I'll go.
Not going to ride up there just to ride around Nashua, etc.. but if it's a longer ride I'd go.
I sent HBerry a message... didn't want to come down too hard, it sounds like he actually has already figured out to be cautious.
Ben
i can't make it sat, only sunday. if u go sat then maybee ill see u all next time.

I just want learn more about my surroundings. This could be just the start of the ride too.![]()

If your looking for something that isnt too long, your best bet is to get off at exit 5 and head towards hollis. Just go all the way down west hollis street and you will see a small golf course on your left. Take a right at the second set of lights and you will see Morin's Landscaping on your left. Just go down that street, its long and twisty. Eventually you will end up out on amherst street way up in the amherst/merrimack area. Then you can either come back amherst street, or find a new way home.

I have already found those roads. They are fun. Is that all of them?![]()
Thanks again and let me know if you want to meet up and go for a ride. I remember when I was starting out.
Nathan
HAHA no that isnt even close to all of them! Another fun one, which is actually in dunstable but its ok, get off at exit one and head AWAY from DW highway. You should go by a fire station, roby park, and sky meadow. Continue straight on that road and you will come to a three way stop. Go straight through the three way stop and continue down that road. You will pass a condominuim place on your left, right after that take a left. Go down that road, watch out for the quick 90 degree turn, and then go straight, this will bring you into dunstable and it is a very fun twisty road. Once your into dunstable, all the roads are like this.
