NESR Pick-Up Hockey / SKATE 2008

Keep posting up. I have leagues on Monday and Wednesday. Lots of times we'll do Saturday night pick up from 8-10 or 9-11 in Canton. Lots of fun, most of the guys are D skaters.

What's the deal in canton? Show up and play?

The guy who organizes sends out an email invite with a link to sign up via google docs. We cap at 26 skaters and it usually fills up a couple of days after he sends it out. Its $20 to skate.

There's a beer league in south Windsor I'm currently in. Its cheap and easy going. I've played leagues in Cromwell, Trinity, Newington, Enfield, Simsbury and even Bolton. I haven't done any outta state since I played Juniors and college.

I didn't know if there was any ice say in Springfield or Worcester.

How old are you? I play over 40 in enfield and over 30 in west springfield, MA. Also sub on an over 40 in westfield and an all ages pick up in Simsbury, CT. None of the skates are looking for guys right now but if you are old enough I can let you know if/when they do, if you want

Wow, didnt realize we did these skates so long ago, was it in Auburn? Either way, im usually always down for a good skate here and there. Im already in two league right now, but could probably manage a few nights.

Ok, I will keep you in mind. Since you are under 40 and I am only a fringe guy/sub in the Simsbury and westfield skates, probably the over 30 Sundays in west springfield would be the one. As I said, they aren't needing players right now but people get hurt, etc so I will let you know if the captain needs anyone.

Between all interested parties here plus a couple of buddies, can we pull 20-25 skaters together?

I can get the ice in Canton or Dedham for ~$275 for the 8-10 or 9-11 slot as availability dictates. I can get 2 goalies if Scottie wants to skate, or just one. We could get this thing going again if the interest is there and we can all get on the same page.

At least I have a decent defense in having not played the past few years, have been skating out full time and only pop back in net when our regular goalie and regular sub aren't available. Goal, assist and a lazer off the crossbar Weds night, not bad for a goalie!

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. Would love to get back out there. Played one game bout a month ago, then bought some new gear hoping I'd get more chances to play this winter, but it hasn't happened yet.

Sun & Mon nights work best for me. Any other night is doable, but a stretch with work at 6:30am. If you guys piece something together you can count me in.

Srsly, though... the one & only time I've ever played league hockey last month it was in low division C. Although I was inarguably the weakest on the team, I don't think I made a COMPLETE fool of myself. But I was still outskilled.

If work ever slows down, I can put something together.

Any interest if I can get ice times in Marlboro NE Sports Center? There's 6 rinks, but this place is not cheap.
Last time I rented on a Friday night it was 280/Hour. Sat or Sunday at 10PM is the best deal at $175/Hour

Boch Ice Center, Dedham:
$290/hr for the big sheet. Those are current spring rates.
$190/hr for the small rink. Small rink is fun, its perfect for 3 on 3. Goalies will get absolutely shelled, I can rip a slap shot on a rope full length of the ice. Might be a great solution for a smaller group. 12 guys plus 2 goalies gives 2 lines and less than $20/head for the hour.
