NH 16 north out of Conway, good ride????

I am riding to Pittsburg, NH tomorrow and returning Saturday through VT. Is NH 16 to 26 to 3 a decent route?
    Looks good on the map.
    Thanks,
    Lee

North of conway is amazing, especially once you get through like jackson and stuff, nice moutain side roads, hardly any cops twisty roads, all the way past mt washington and further. South of conway is pretty lame, its more of a commuter road. So lots of traffic, and pretty boring roads.

If you're not opposed to a slightly longer ride, you could take 302 out of North Conway through Crawford Notch, and cut back across and pick up Rt 16 back in Gorham. The stretch between N. Conway & Gorham looks dull though.

Not opposed to a longer route at all, but that looked like it took you out of the middle of the mountains. I added it to the route and will look at it when there.

Yeah it's a pretty decent ride.

Keep the speeds down on 16 from Gorham through Berlin. It's the main route between the two towns, and patrolled heavily.

Watch for Moose, especially from Berlin north on 16. You'll pass through "13 Mile woods" (you'll see the sign). The sign to the locals can be translated as "watch out for all the dam moose you tourist bastids!"

From 16 between Errol and Berlin:

Dixveille Notch is fun, just a short section of "real" twisties as you go by the Balsoms resort. If you have time (and it's open), shooting up from Conway/Hurricane Mountain Road to 113 in Maine, then 2/16 through Gorham. Or head further north and hit 16 in Maine before you start heading west.

There are hills on Rt 302, yeah. It's just a nice area, but, as mentioned, the Dixville Notch is really the only exciting bit, it's a steep uphill with some curves built in (IIRC, it's been a year or two since I've been up there).

Compared to Rt 16 (based only on google maps from N. Conway to Gorham) it looks like a lot more fun. The upper end of Rt 16 looks curvacious though.

Holy shit Lee, didn't even recognize the screen name for some reason.

    Not enough

... only 12000. The trip to Nova Scotia being a big chunk of this season's numbers. Not being able to commute to work, and never being able to get out at all on weekdays sucks. But at least when I do go ou,t it's for the day

I should change it one more time since I am no longer riding the Sprint.
I should be REDGS.. I traded it for a 98 BMW GS 1100..
We should try and get a ride in before the season is over.

NH 16 north out of Conway, good ride????

in Colebrook, instead of Rt 3 (primary traffic) to Pittsburg, take 145, watch out for moose

you might consider turning from 16 in gorham and taking 2 east to rt 26, this avoids the gorham/berlin strip and 13 mile woods is really beat up with frost action, the ride's not that great anyway, just bumpy highspeed sweepers following the river

watch out for the crest of dixville notch, easy to get airborne and loose control , the road grests abruptly from a +10% or better slope to a -10% slope

153 to conway is better than 16, less traffic and much twistier, in Eaton take rigth onto Brownfield Road to Haleytown Road to 302, then take a right into Fryeburg and pickup 113 thru Evans Notch , avoid conway traffic and gorham traffic if you head east to 26

LOTS of contruction west of the Balsams, the road is getting a major straightening.

+1 on the crest just east of the Balsams. I was up there for the first time a few weeks ago and about shit when the road disappeared.

if you pick up 153N @ the Irving Blue Canoe just south of Wakefield and stay on it all the way up into Conway, then pick up 16N from there and keep going that'd be a decent ride. 153 through Freedom, NH is newly paved *mint* for the twisties and whoops' along the lakes.

Went 112 to 16 to 302 to 116 (i think) to 3. When we did get on 3 it was very nice. Little traffic, good conditon and no cops or moose. We rode 690 miles over the last two days. Since I have never been up there every road was new to me.
    Thanks for the tips.
