In summary, Drew woke last Wednesday looking like he was channeling the prom scene from the movie "Carrie". Fortunately, the episode last week conditioned us not to freak out and appearances can be deceiving because he was fine once he cleaned up, but we called the doctors and they wanted to see him that day. His counts were stable from the previous visit and he didn't need to be transfused.

Drew then went all weekend without bleeding. We took this as a sign that maybe things were progressing and we would get some good news to report. That was not the case. As Dr. Williams told us (again), we have been "unusually unlucky" in the course of Drew's illness and this sort of stretch of time would be considered typical. Still, maybe reaching a "typical" course is better than what we've experienced in the last 12 weeks (which still feel like years to us). Dr. Williams reiterated that the average rate of response to chemo is 96 days. That's 13.7 weeks for those of you reaching for the calculator. We are completing week 9 post chemo this coming Saturday. It's hard to be patient. Dr. Alli also reminded us that only 30% of kids will reach a complete remission by chemo. Please keep that in mind in your prayers for Drew. The next 5 weeks should be telling for us and the waiting is torturous.”
Only 20 people from here so far.

Saturday is supposed to be 74 and sunny. If you ever needed an excuse to ride this is it. Chores can wait. Only a few warm riding weekends left. Let's go!

I'm a universal donor negative for I think its called cytomegalovirus. AKA they like my blood and plasma, and lymphocytes for people with compromised immune systems / weak condition. Let me know if they need a donor or anything.

Re: A great NH ride - Sept 12th

So like everyone I'm keeping an eye on the weather for tomorrow. I want this ride to be enjoyable for everyone so if it looks like the forecast is going to worsen we can make a decision. Because of the cause I also don't want to risk losing a significant number or riders due to the weather.

Right now the ride is on. Never know how the forecast might change into the early evening, and even right now they're saying that only light, spotty showers are possible. I will post up something around 9pm so please check in here and stay tuned.

Also, thanks to Seacoast Sport Cycle (Pat & team), Billerica Motorsports (Sheppo), Second Wind BMW (Joe), Souhegan Valley Motorsports (Sean), Great Bay Triumph, and all the other non-bike related businesses who have stepped up with gift card prizes to be given away at this ride. I've been able to collect more than I thought I would, so thanks everyone.

Re: A great NH ride - Sept 12th

Well I’ve checked out three or four different weather sites for tomorrow. My sense is that the best thing to do, with the information I have, is to postpone the ride instead of gambling with what could be a lousy day for an event like this. The likelihood percentage of rain being around here, as well as the potential amounts of it, have both increased since earlier. So unfortunately we will not have the ride tomorrow, but we will have the ride once I can figure out the best dates for the folks helping out at the meeting spot, lunch, etc.

I’m thinking we will reschedule the event under one of these two scenarios. The first would be holding the ride on Saturday 9/26 with a rain date of Sunday 9/27. The second would be holding the ride on Saturday 10/3 with a rain date of 10/4. I will work over the weekend to sort things out. I will then post a reply here no later than Monday afternoon with the new date and time. We have plenty of great riding weather left, and most likely when we do reschedule it will start a bit later in the morning and run a bit later in the afternoon. So maybe a 10am to 3pm or 11am to 4pm sort of thing. Stay tuned for more details, and thanks.

Too bad but I agree the forecast is getting worse by the hour. I should be good for either of those two weekends that you mentioned in your post and maybe we can get a few more riders by then.

    *shakes fist at rain gods*

I'm not sure if I'll be able to make a rescheduling, it depends on the date. I was going to have a birthday party for myself on the 3rd so that'd definitely be out. I think I'm working next Saturday too so I'm not sure I'd be able to make that...

I can do the first weekend, can't do the October one.

Looks like I get to install my heated grips today instead

Re: A great NH ride - Sept 12th

Okay, the ride is now scheduled for Oct 3rd with a rain date of Oct 4th. Instead of posting replies (regadarding joining the ride) to this string I will send out a new Ride & Events post in a few minutes with the new dates and description. We can then use that post to start the confirmed participants list. Thanks.
