The Neglected's second annual Uncovered Bridges ride (pure coincidence that it was once again held on the same weekend as the that other bridges ride ) took place yesterday. Mark was the official counter but I saw somewhere between 3 and 28 bridges. Here is a brief write-up and a few pics, all available for viewing without FaceBook :
Four of us met up in Hillsboro, NH where the temps were in the mid forties and the cloud cover was quickly burning off.
We headed out to Mt. Ascutney and rode to the top. At this point (and until late afternoon) we had total blue skies, no wind, and temps in the mid-fifties to low sixties. Great weather and really incredible views & scenery up there and throughout the day.
We took some fantastic VT roads (most that none of us had been on before) with a number of long high-speed sweepers and one ridiculous downhill hairpin. Along the way we stopped in Weston at a cool lunch spot.
We did have one unfortunate encounter following lunch, as we were gearing up. A Range Rover tried to mow us down. Good thing gumby took things into his own hands to protect us.
Although we had not ridden the route before, it turned out to be a nice 180-200 mile loop. We'll make a few revisions and do it again with a larger NESR group early next year.
