Re: Official LARGE GROUP MEET/RIDE
Good call going too the doctor. You just never know, even with a helmet on. Hope everything works out ok for you. Guy i knew in high school slipped on the ice an bonked his head on the fender of his truck. Didn't think anything of it and has been in a comma since 1979. So go get checked out.

Re: Official LARGE GROUP MEET/RIDE
Glad everyone had a great time and that the two involved in the incident are healing. One of the best things about group rides is the support riders receive. I couldn't imagine having a get off, all alone, then waiting for someone to be paying enough attention to notice my busted bike and body off of the roadside. A group ride usually includes members of the medical community, bike mechanics and those that are willing to trailer your bike to anywhere. I  group rides.

Bingo. This is the 80% rule. RIde your own ride in YOUR comfort zone. If you feel like you may be getting in over your head, slow down, flag others by, if you see them bunching up behind you.
Better to be safe and have fun, then press the issue and have a resulting crash. Unfortunately, you learned this the hard way. Glad it didn't turn out worse.
You were smart for wearing full gear.
Sorry Tim, if I sound like I'm preaching. I was not there, but since Jim has fessed up and said he might have been riding over his head at the time, we have some reason of why this happened.
BTW, has anyone heard from the guy on the cruiser who crashed behind? How is he doing?

Re: Official LARGE GROUP MEET/RIDE
Ya he's fine just healing and has already planned some custom bobbing to the cruiser. I think he was wearing leather gloves too and they grazed through to his knuckles like his leather jacket did on his arm.

O that’s good at least (that he was wearing gloves - I thought he had no gloves on). Glad to hear he is healing up! I hope he wears some better pants next time as well

Only group ride I will go in is with about 5 or 6 folks for this very reason.
Glad everyone is ok.

Re: Official LARGE GROUP MEET/RIDE
Group rides never bothered me...it's the people who bin it trying to do anything other than maintain their comfort zone that bothers me. Regardless I'm glad to see both riders are still around to learn from this mishap.

Re: Official LARGE GROUP MEET/RIDE
I will try to get this event as a annual meet & Ride, possibly 2. One in the spring and one before the end of the warm weather in September.
As for those that still want to head out this weekend and try Southern VT again, I might be up for it. AGATT Ride!!

Re: Official LARGE GROUP MEET/RIDE

Excellent....glad he's fine! And, fwiw, I think bobbing a cruiser is almost always a big improvement....how bout a 'project thread'!
