Friday was probably my last commute of the season.

Re: Where did you ride today?
Highs have dropped into the low 90’s here finally, so I decided to take the Aprilia out for a rip for the first time this year. I had moved it into the big garage a week ago and didn’t reconnect the charger. No ride for me.
Fucking batteries.

Re: Where did you ride today?
I took the Rappy for a ride on Sunday morning and did a little pre ride trail maintenance. Took the YZ450FX out in the afternoon and it totally kicked my ass in less than 15 miles… at least the ground was soft after several tip overs, with the freshly fallen leaves and pine needles

Re: Where did you ride today?
I actually got a decent ride in. I stopped at a really nice little pond with a parking lot to take some pictures but they were doing a big Halloween fest for little kids. Buggered out of there asap. No scenic pictures but here she is at home.

Re: Where did you ride today?
I managed a nice little run Saturday, but no pics. From the Barnsteads I took back roads down to Massabesic Lake in Auburn. A quick trip around the lake for lunch on the outskirts of Manchghannistan. Then around the city to get out to Bedford, New Boston (stopped at Molly's for a quick beer), Weare, Goffstown, Dunbarton, Bow, then home.
Started out the day with thermals, layers and the liner. Ended the day in a short sleeve under the jacket with no liner. These days are getting harder to come by...

68 and sunny in November and I actually had some time to get out. Took a rip down to see some old co-workers on the silver bullet.

Re: Where did you ride today?
Again, no pics. Managed a decent loop up north this past weekend. Only 100+ miles or so. But got to his Hart's for lunch & brought dinners to some friends, one of whom recently underwent back surgery.
DEFINITELY getting out again this weekend. Fuck hunting! :lmao:

You certainly should. The mornings are not that bad if you dress for it. The afternoons are perfect.

Re: Where did you ride today?
41 degrees at 640 this morning. Froze my nuts off on the way to work.

I'm totally NOT a cold weather person. It'll be a beauty ride home (except for Friday tourist traffic), but the mornings are still pretty frigid and it'll be in the upper 30's to low 40's when I leave between 6:00-6:30am.

How long (time-wise) is your commute? What type of roads do you travel for it? Just trying to gauge it because it sounds like you guys are almost daring me.
-
Re: Where did you ride today?
Mine is 30 minutes unless I go our second location then its 50 minutes. I ride in the Berkshires from North Adams to Pittsfield or Lenox and I roll on MA8 then US7.. mountains, in town, and some limited state highway driving. Not "daring" you.. Encouraging you!!!

31° at 7:45 here, we had a heavy frost

Re: Where did you ride today?
32 degrees on the way to work this morning. I was nice and comfortable with my heated base layer, heated grips and Gore-tex.

I'm not a good comparison for anything really. I work 1.5 miles from my house and park inside when I get to work. We haven't had frost down here and it's supposed to be 70 degrees this afternoon.

Re: Where did you ride today?
the town painted a double yellow line on my road today, just in time to be scraped off by the winter plowing, something to aim at when they dump salt
waiting for temp to go up a couple more degrees before I go out, I need to spend the cake for a Givi windscreen for mt scooter

Mine is about 50-60 minutes, but the travel sounds similar...

Every year I tell myself I'm going heated. Then it never happens...

Two, actually! I got those to pass time during the winter. After two years of heavy use, they've both basically sat. This year they'll both be for sale.

About freezing at the house this morning, and as Randy said we had a pretty heavy frost. It may inch into the 60's today at the house. At the shop in Manchester it's a bit warmer.

www.warmnsafe.com
The best stuff out there IMO. Expensive to pony up the first time, but so worth it if you want to ride in complete comfort down into freezing temps. I'd recommend the dual controller, base layer and gloves at a minimum. Socks are great as well.
Use coupon "advforum". IIRC it's 20% off everything on the site, and usable infinitely.

I thought the same thing and then borrowed a friend's heated vest once. Next thing I knew I was buying heated jacket liner, heated pants, heated gloves, and finally heated socks. I get called a wimp but it feels like I'm wrapped in a warm blanket regardless of how low the temps get and it is AMAZING.
Side benefit is I don't wear as many layers. Besides not feeling like a marshmallow man, I can adjust the temp as needed without pulling over.

59° now, I'm hoping for 63° when I leave for my dentist appointment and monthly pharmaceutical run
my new scooter has nice heated grips, I put em on low once and can't imagine using more, I almost had to put on winter gloves to insulate my hands from the heat
