I was concerned because the woman in the car that wouldn't get out of the passing lane started dailing her cell, as soon at those hand gestures went off at her...
All I could think about was a State Trooper reception several exits down waiting for us.
I noticed that too when I went by her. Lucky for us she probably got the usual 911 run around as they try to find out where she was and which barracks should respond. You forgot to mention that lil' love connection you made with that black Honda(?) with the grapefruit launcher on the way through Concord.

I wonder what that kid's issue was. His pass in the break-down lane was interesting to say the least.

Sounds like you guys had an intersting slab home. Wish I stuck around for that. I hightailed it back around 430. There was a cop less than one exit down from Franconia notch where we got off and went past the trading post.

That dude in the blacked out ricer burner sweved his car twards Mark. As if he was gonna run him outa the passing lane. Punk kid. What the hell was he thinking. let me see here....1 punk cager vs. 8+ bad ass bikers.
As for the pace home. I was unsure what speeds we wanted to do. Joe asked and no one answered. Sorry to break ranks, but I saw Mark looking around the vehical in front for a chance to pass, I saw it. So, I took it. Everyone followed. Kinda hard to comunicate with shrugging shoulders, while doing the Kham wiggle. I still didn't get home till 9:30.

    Motorcycles, Ambulances and Helicopters!

I知 under the influence of pain meds so this post may be a bit disjointed.

Sorry for screwing up the ride. I guess I hit that corner a little to fast. Ya think, there's a lesson in there somewhere? It was a spectacular ride, all things considered.

I've trying to piece together what actually happened once I left the road. From what I recall, the left side of the Sprint got trashed and since my left leg was dislocated, I'm guessing I hit a tree on that side and got sent. I recall being thrown and think it was low to the ground since I was tumbling. I came to rest between two trees in a depression (filled with mosquitos, natch.) I think it was Bergs that got to me first, then the guy on the Busa (sorry I don稚 remember your name.) Then Dave was there

Paul, Dave and the guy on the Busa really went the extra mile getting the Sprint out of the hole and helping me keep head on straight. I can稚 thank you enough.

I think there others on the scene, but my recollection is tenuous. A nurse happened upon the scene and gave me a cursory once over. My left leg was clearly either broken or dislocated, oh so clearly. It was sticking out in front of me quite and odd angle and I couldn稚 get it to go down. With a weight around 240 lbs. and my big hamhock sticking out in the air the EMTs had a bitch of time getting me into the ambulance. I felt like a big piece of furniture getting finessed up a narrow stairwell, but they finally got me in!

The ride to Berlin seemed to take forever, but we stopped along the way and picked up a medic that could give me some pain meds thumbsup, as you might imagine I was happy to see him.

I got ambulanced to the Androscoggin Valley Hospital (AVH) in Berlin with what would turn out to be a dislocated hip. I guess AVH didn稚 have facilities to treat my injury so I was med-flighted to Dartmouth-Hithcock. Nothing against the Berlin hospital, but I was glad to be going to Dartmouth. There's always piece of mind that comes along with getting world class care. To top it all off, they have wireless access, woohoo!

Late last night they got my hip popped back in, but a CT scan revealed a chunk and a few chips that need to be dealt wit. I go under the knife on Wednesday for that procedure. Yippee.

I壇 love to get a damage assessment on the bike, did anyone get a good look at it, or perhaps pictures? I know it started up after the crash, and that the screen and one mirror had snapped off. Hopefully the insurance company won稚 be a nuisance.

Ok so crashing is a drag, The hip hurts and I値l likely be facing a full hip replacement in the future, but it could致e been a lot worse. The bike is fully insured and my wife doesn稚 seem to be making any noise about selling it.

Thanks to everyone for really taking care of me and my business, your concern and assistance are truly appreciated. For a bunch of hardass unruly bikers you guys aren't half bad!

    John

First off you did not ruin the ride. Shit happens riding can be dangerous. Glad to hear you are ok. The bike wasnt great but I dont think ti wa s a total loss. Bergs had the best view of the crash as he was behind you. They sent along your tank bag I believe along with your license and a note as to where the bike is etc... so you can have it picked up. A lot of guys helped out. The guy on the busa stayed with you the whole time, me and him helped the emt's carry you out of the small ditch. Nick (on the zxr636) rode your bike out. The guy on the sv picked up your parts. Berg and Dave talked to the police and made arrangments for your bike to be kept at this guys house.
Glad to hear you are ok, and your leg wasnt broken.

Yeehaw....best part of the whole post!!!

John, I can't tell you how glad I was to see this post. Really glad the injurys weren't worse. Hope you'll be back in short order.

I am sure Paul, (da emergency call to action man), Bergs will give you a post mortum but it sounds like you pretty much got it right. Carrying a little too much speed then maybe target fixation. To your credit it didn't look like you grabbed a handful of brake and stood the bike up. It looks like you tried to ride it out and the leaves and muck just caught you up.

I assume that you found the information on where your bike is. Its in the top of your tank bag in case you haven't gotten to that yet! No worries, Bob said it was fine there.

I'm no expert but I would guess the bike will be repairable unless there was some frame damage. Lots of experts here on the board that can help you with that!

Forget about ruining the ride. It happens and all it really cost us was about an hour...the rest of the day went (pretty much!) as planned!

Take care and keep us posted....

    Dave
