from what I've heard, you should just do a trackday at VIR then. I'm planning on going down this winter.

Nope!!!!
But thanks for the invite![]()
One ticket from hell that's me. Sounds like a ride I could enjoy though.
I like to mix it up a little, some back roads some high speed roads.

99.9% towards twisites???? Where do you live? The boonies?Originally posted by Mystery Squid
Ok, so 99.9% of rides seem to be directed towards twisties. Well, let's flip to the other side of the coin, and make use of the "oodles" of HP we rarely really get to use.
![]()
Well, you know you have to hit the highways to get to those great twisties..... So I'd say the ratio is more like 25-35% highway vs 75-65% twisties.....so plenty of time for triple speeds
![]()
So to chime in on the interest.... I do triple digits here and there and of course there are certain sections where smokie doesn't patrol.... so topend timeI would say there has only been one or two times out (like, just down the street to wash the bike) that I have not pushed 125+..... yep I use that sweet HP more than I should.... but

If you go fast enough the highways ARE twisty!! A gentle turn on a highway takes alot of work at 160+...ask me how I know!

Heh, I'd be in, but at STEP 31, and a $10K a year insurance bill (for 2 cars and a bike), I probably should avoid such activities![]()
But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
Time to buy a pickup truck!! Really helps get those points down! I came down from a 29 and I'm now a 9, what a difference in insurance! Lost the license a few times, State Police driving school grad., spent tons of $$ on insurance then bought a truck. I drive just as fast, but the cops don't even look!

Heh, well if I ever got off my ass to challenge any tickets it would be a lot lower.Originally posted by Mystery Squid
LMAO.. Sorry.. but aren't you close to the higest sdip where, excluding suspension issues), you simply pay tickets, no need to fight them?
I myself have a 12 sdip, was at 10 last year but a punk ass statey showed up for one of my court dates(and ironically, one didn't several months prior
), 2 cars and 1 bike for me runs roughly $3K, for perspective...
Also, if MA didnt' consider 7 years of driving record for assessing SDIP it would be alot lower (2 reckless endagerment charges 6 years ago for 'excessive speed', thats 10 SDIP points alone, never minding the lane violations and other charges related to that scene (all said, 18 SDIP points from one incident))
Also, if I could even go one year without getting a ticket of one sort or another, i might have a chance at the 3 years no tickets reprieve...
Eh, when I move out to Ohio the ins. will go from $10K a year to < $700 a year. Can't friggin wait!

on the note of driver points...lol When I was 21 I was at a step 37...yes 35 is the highest you are supposed to go...lol
Loast my lisence for a 6 mo after it was all said and done...actually more..90 from the judge(which was BS!!) got it back..promptly lost it for 60days(too many surcharges in 3 yrears or something..) got it back and within a week lost it for another 60days(..lol...still above the 3 year rule...lol).....now I'm back to a reasonable step...lol..kinda
First get the ticket
Go to the courthouse where hearing will be.
Stand on steps and look for the nearest lawyer office.
Go to him/her see if they do traffic. Tell them that the LEO looked very agitated and you were a feared
Pay them the 500 to 700 they want and you have a better than even that ticket will go away; no insurance; no bs. Worst case ask them to see if DA will allow you to make a donation or something.
Keep this up and you will maintain the clean license that makes it easier next time.

That is such a scam the lawyers run...it is disgusting. You should see how they operate in NC...you get a ticket and within 2 weeks you will have like 50 mailings for lawyers at your house...all claiming you can't get it done without them.....WRONG...save your money...IMO of course
Yes its a scam but
the nearest lawyer will have negotiating power with the da that you can never have.
I have even used ex judges and da's so that they are on a 1st name basis.
Interupt the process before you get to court![]()

I guess you never been through the system then so many times as you say? I love people who give advice but a few posts before say they were step 37 when you can only go to 35. The B.S. is gettign thick let me go get my boots!!!Originally posted by bigred875

Now tell us bigred how many times have you been to court and defended yourself and won?
The advice about picking the closet lawyer to the court house is the best advice. They know the judge, the know the DA, they know the chief of police. That is what I have done in the past. I will not even list all of my charges I have gotten because I am ashamed of some of them.
Prime example: Got hit on radar on Rt3 in the construction zone doing 120 mph. I saw the cop he saw me and I gunned it onto 495. There was another cop already waiting for me so I pulled over. Remember if you do nto get away in the first 30 seconds you are not getting away. Get the nice big ticket. Go see local Lawyer. He called the Chief of Police. I gave my lawyer lots of cash. He left the room for a bit. He comes back and tell me how to respect everyone in that room when I go in and to appologize for wasting the court, da, and polices time. They call me in and before I even said a word everything dismissed by the majisty!!! This is much more common then anyone of you would ever believe. If you are standing in front of the judge it is already to late to get off scott free.
For small speeding tickets yes go defend youself but for major ones you are one dumb person to think about defending yourself.
