Back Roads for Backpacks Ride- August 6

Hi Everyone,

The 2nd Annual Back Roads for Backpacks (formerly Ride for Ruth's) ride is Saturday, August 6. Registration opens at 8:30 and we will be leaving Ruth's Reusable Resources at 9:30. This year, we are delivering backpacks to a school in Sanford, Maine. Each year, so many students start school without the necessary materials such as pencils, paper, etc. Ruth and her team stuff thousands of backpacks a year to help these children.

The address of Ruth's Reusable Resources is 39 Blueberry Rd, Portland, ME. It is conveniently located off the turnpike for anyone that might coming from further away. The ride will start and end here. After the ride, there will be a BBQ and some small giveaways.

The suggested donation is $25, which will go towards filling the backpacks. You are also more than welcome to bring a backpack full of supplies as well.

I'm IN!

I joined Kerry on this ride last year and it was a great time! Good cause, good people and good food at the end of the ride. Kerry practiced her route multiple times before leading so she kept the group together without issue.

This year I will again make the trip to Maine to ride for this cause. If anyone wants to follow me up for the commute (it'll be a slab) or use me as the messenger to deliver donations, please let me know.

TDiloren had mentioned this to me last week and I was totally in, but this is the same day I am planning a ride back in western MA..... But you will be seeing 25 dollars from me anyway. I may be going to the track tomorrow to watch JohnnyX-14 and TDiloren so I will drop off the money with them. Have a wicked good ride, I am in for next year for sure.

Wow....thanks everyone!! I don't know some of you, but I look forward to meeting you and I hope you enjoy the ride! And thanks for the support of people that can't attend. It means so much!

We decide the school to visit according to the need so Sanford was the place. We have worked hard to find a route that is scenic while still completing the mission. I plan to be back to Ruth's in Portland by 12:30 or 1. The pace will be relaxed as we have a variety of riders attending. If you have any other questions, please let me know!

102E to 101E takes the same amount of time and is much more enjoyable IMO....

I may join you guys depending, having some bumps cut off my head on the 1st so we'll see if I'm in a condition to ride...
