long range forcast (as reliable as it might be for the rock pile) is high of 50 both days, fwiw, tommorow 1st, forecast is 60+

there is usually a 15° diff from the base of the auto road to the summit

I'm not even beginning to look at any forecasts this far out. I'll start paying attention Monday night.

    Re: The Rock Pile

Pretty much took care of the Corvette already, so that's one checked off. It's finally back on the road after sitting in the garage for almost three years.

I TOTALLY fuckin' forgot about swapping my front tire on the bike last year and just realized how bad it is. I even stopped commuting on it for now. I have the tire and I'm hoping to have it on by Monday. Then it's all about the weather on the mountain. It can be sunny & 80 at the base and windy, rainy, foggy and/or cloudy halfway/top of the mountain. In which case, they won't let motorcycles up. Ask me how I know...

I was the last motorcycle they let up in 2020 for the sunrise. There were gusts up to 70mph, in the dark, on the dirt section of switch backs... most sphincter clenching ride of my life.
but I'd do it again. I love that ride up the mountain.

    Certainly a cool ride!
Last time I was up there was a Stonner led ride from Stonnerstock. When we got to the top the bugs were insane! It was also a record high on the top of the mtn., 73 degrees.
90+ degrees on the ride and we were all dressed in full leather, Sean and Leah may have had mesh gear? The rest of us didn't own any, lol.

yep, the one and only time I've been there so far, not to worry, the one time I rode up Mt. Mitchell in NC, they had weather more like Mt. Washington norms

I gotta see how quickly I can get my front tire swapped. I didn't realize how incredibly hosed it is. After that it's up to the weather.

    Weather.gov.

This Weds doesn’t look too promising. Thursday looks good.

I’d be down for the following week if this week can’t happen..

Speaking for myself: temps, don’t care.
    Wind: don’t care.
Rain: not going, getting wet and not being able to see anything is uncompelling.

Not naive about conditions: hiked Mt Washington six times, only had a view twice, and one of those the clouds blew in 15 minutes later.

    Conditions change rapidly.

We were let up once, had great views, and then rode down in a downpour where you could barely see the taillights of the bike in front of you.

I may have to postpone. Even my buddy doesn't know if he can do my tire by then. At best, the ride this week would no doubt be a seat of the pants thing at this point. How I fuckin' forgot about my front tire is unbelievable to me.

My tire is SUPPOSED to be getting swapped tomorrow morning. It usually ties me up for a couple hours. Thursday is definitely looking like the better of the days according to the weather forecast for the mountain.
