Hey, any of you Champlain Valley people want to go for a ride this Saturday, 4/26? Start in Burlington, head up Rt 2 through the Champlain islands, cross over to NY at Rouse's Point, ride down the west side of the lake, stop for lunch in Plattsburgh, continue south to Port Henry, maybe go check out T**** Road to see what shape it's in, then head across the bridge at Crown Point back to Vermont.
Any takers?

I might be down, depending on the weather and what time you plan on getting back. ...usually like to leave early and get back early/mid afternoon so I can still do other stuff that day.
Have to pass this time but I went up that way Monday after work... Well through the islands to Rouses and then back down through Swanton, Fairfax, Colchester.
Love that loop after work.
damn...working on Sat bro...sounds like a good one too...be safe and have fun!

I was thinking that we could meet somewhere in the Burlington area (probably Costco parking lot as I think a friend who lives in Essex is coming and it's pretty centrally located) at 9:30am or so. Stop in Plattsburgh for lunch, probably be back in Burlington by 3 or 4, depending on how many times we ride T**** Road.

could we do the loop the other way? that way, i could bounce after T road if I want to get back earlier.

If anyone wants to join us... we're meeting at 9:30am in the Costco parking lot. Whether or not we do T**** Road will depend on what time it is once we get down there because some people need to be back earlyish. But we'll probably try to take a slow run on T**** Road and E*** P*** Road just to see what shape they're in. I'll report back.

i can't make it unless you want to do the trip in reverse order. if we start out going south, i can hit T road with you and head back. i have another commitment in the afternoon. otherwise, no big deal, there will be plenty of other chances this summer.
How was it?
Who showed?

Great ride; no one from here showed though. It was just me and a couple guys from my Triumph RAT pack.
We made three passes on T**** Road because it was in surprisingly good shape. Still some sand on the shoulders, and a little gravel in two of the turns, but otherwise it was good.
Then we headed south and tried E*** P*** Road, and it was awful. It looked as though they'd decided to turn it into a dirt road over the winter and just covered the entire thing with sand, and only a little of it had been scraped off by now. There were places where the sand went all the way across. It was hairy on the V-Strom, even keeping the speed low; my buddy on his Daytona 675 was white-knuckled and taking it so slow I had to slow way down a few times so he could catch up. I don't blame him one bit -- the tires on that bike are about as close to racing slicks as you can get and still be DOT legal, so they definitely would not be fun on that loose stuff.
Also, it was disappointing to see that the pavement on E*** P*** Road took some pretty major damage over the winter. They only just repaved it last summer, but a bunch of big cracks opened up over the winter, and there was one spot where the outer part of the road dropped away a couple inches. I guess that marshy area must be awful to try to maintain a road on...

so are T**** road and E**** P***** road like a right of passage for the forum?
Only for hardcore riders from VT and NY
