Please keep thread clean so it makes easier for me to keep on track, give your name if you attend (or if you are a maybe), and if you are bringing a food item. For you guys who ride from far it's understood you cannot bring food, in this case a small $ donation is appreciated but not required. Thanks!
We finally set the date for the annual group ride, BBQ & pool party. Saturday August 4th.
The ride will leave at 9:30a.m. from Grist Mill Plaza in Southwick (602 College Highway, Southwick MA) it's right on the corner of Rte 57/Feeding Hills Rd and 10/202/College Highway. We leave at 9:30a.m. sharp, butt on your saddle ready to go. There is a Mobil gas station on the other corner with convenience store. If anyone want to meet up earlier for breakfast at the nice little family restaurant nearby, we can arrange that too.
We're going to hit 4 states. Ride starts from MA, going into CT (Barkhamsted Res., Peoples State Forest, etc.), then hitting NY state (Dutchess County, Taconic trail, etc.), going up to VT (Rtes 9, 100) and coming back down in MA (Berkshires). A few scenic/break stops are planned, and some others are for gas/restrooms and we will have lunch somewhere near CT/NY border. I went driving a whole day thru these states to find nice scenic roads in good condition (no potholes, excessive amount of tar snakes, etc.). I lost myself a few times and made nice discoveries...
Pace will be MEDIUM. Average of 20 miles over speed limits. Not a good ride for the newbie that have very little or no experience at all. Wear gear (helmet, jacket and jeans at the minimum!) if you get there wearing shorts and a t-shirt, please don't bother showing up. Everyone will be provided with a detailed map, nobody gets left behind.
PARTY: This year we have a LUAU theme party! You can wear your Florida style shirt and hat if you want! LOL Bring your cigars, whatever...frozen cocktails (margaritas, daiquiris, etc.) will be served. Jell-o shots. Other kinds of shots, too. BBQ and food will be served, and I could use your help if you can bring anything (salads, meat, desserts, munchies, drinks (alcohol or not), etc. I will provide yummy food, plates, utensils, cups, etc.
You can camp out down the hill, plenty of space near the brook abbuting the woods with a lot of tree shade and privacy. We're going to have a camp fire. GAMES too! Horse shoes, trampoline, pool volleyball, etc.)
I need a head count, and if you can bring something so I don't make the same thing!
