ANY Skiers? / Snowboarders?

I hate to admit it but the white stuff will be a falling in the not to distant future.
Are there any of you skiers? snowboarders ? that might be interested in getting together over the winter?

Day trips or overnighters?

I can hook people up with a place to stay and free passes.....and most of the time..cutting the lines....

i drag knuckles and ski on sticks....

but i also want to take trips..so the more notice i have the more likely i can get time off.....

I'm at Waaaachusett 3-4 nites a week, and I'm always up for treks north. Mad River Glen is where it's at if you're a skier. Sorry no snow plows allowed.

You know I am all over any time on the slopes I can get, with the board or the ski's! Yahoo!!

I will be looking to hit Wachusetts a night or 2 mid-week as well, I have to get lots more practice time on the board, and mogel time on the Ski's..

I get out of work @ 4 and can be at Waaaachu, by 4:30/4:45 and ski til 9:30, then it's lounge time

yeah I'm there about 530-6 to check the crowds. If the line is long i just do the drive thru. I raced last year but I don't think I'm gonna this year, can't commit with travel at work. It was fun though. And remember Connifer is a "family" trail.

Just make sure the place has lots of glades, not much into riding down the highways errr i meen groomer trails

sure just don't take those blades into the 2 feet of fresh new england powder.....

yeah like you'll ever have to worry about that around here.

But out west, blades can only be used on groomers otherwise you'd just sink to the bottom.

We had tons of powder days last year. One of the best winters for skiing in years. Forcast is the same for this coming winter.

Actually we took the blades up to Jay peak last year, and there was a ton of powder in the woods. In fact we were able to manage some really tight glades that you couldn't do on long skis. It was a different way to have fun in the snow. But if you ran out of momentum you sank in up to the waist. as long as you keep moving and lean way back you are okay. I learned the hard way that if you don't lean back the powder actually trips you and you sommersault forward face first into the snow.
I used the long skis too and had fun on them aswell.

JayPeak is by far my most favorite mountain in newengland they get more snow than anyone, 309 inches last year, thats over 25 feet of snow in one season, all natural, not including what they may have made artificially and %60 of the mountain is un groomed and in the woods, its like back country skiing but with lift service.
I haven't skied out west so I can't compare it to that but as far as NE It rules in my book.
Skis, Blades or boards, what ever you like who cares as long as you are having fun.

Jay Peak had like 500" the year before... more than any resort in North America....

Yeh I know they are up there as far as a drive goes, like 4 hours from the metro boston area, but well worth the trip, we did a 3 day week end out of it, and definately wanna do it again sometime.

Actually I am glad that more people haven't discovered it cause it keeps the crowds down, but man what a place to ski!!!!!

Have any of you been to the Stone Hut? Very cool...highly recommended.

FWIW.. I've been to a number of places out West and Jay, Mad River and Stowe are just as good on nice snow days....the difference is the powder and depth of snow pack...I skied Taos the day after Thanksgiving (5+ years ago) and they had a 70 inch base

btw..I'm a 2 planker.

I was trying to see if anyone was interested in a snow EVENT.

I mean hell, its not like NESR people actually go for motorcycle rides together, we all ride seperatly from each other and come here to shoot the shit.

That being said , don't know why I thought people would actually ski or snowboard together.

I live in north western VT (burlington) as most of you know. I am looking to ride a bit this year so if people are headed to Stowe, Jay or Smuggs let me know. I am usually up for it and I don't work til 4pm when I work so I can make it during the day even if I am working tha night.

Snowboarder here
I'll be up at Mt. Snow, VT. every other weekend this season. On the "off" weekends, I'll probably head up to Loon or Attitash.
I'm in for Wachusett any night after work

I do both. I skiied for a long time and then decided to get a snowboard rather than a 2nd set of skiis a couple years ago.

I probably should have stuck with skiing, I don't know if I'll ever be as good on the snowboard. I do want to do more of it this year.

Personally I love Sunday River.

Skier here... I just put a new set of Atomic C8's w/ Device 311 binders on lay-away... Can't wait!

Me and the family usually frequent Bretton Woods and Sunday River for our yearly trips... and then Wachusett for local runs...
