Re: Sunday August 3rd - Central MA RIDE

The was a great ride yesterday guys! Nice to meet some new people and put faces to the screennames (I think KillBill just wrote that as well) The red R1 guy was sorta my fault, he showed up with a guy that I was meeting- I saw the t-shirt and chrome and was like "fuck". Oh well, all in all a great ride, cops were nice for a change, it only rained a little (when the cage tried to kill me) and put 300 miles on the clock. Can't wait to do it again!

Re: Sunday August 3rd - Central MA RIDE

The all red R1 and the zx-10 said they were from Lawrence.
I brought a couple of my friends and my dad, none of whom use the forum. They were riding a Maroon SV, Blue ZR-7, Red/White R1, Black/Blue gsxr, black/grey gsxr, myself on the Ti 636.
I know I have no chrome, and I hope it isn't my buddies you are refering to as squids and if so I'll tell them to knock it off!

I couldn't believe that guy! The stupidity of people amazes me. Excellent job handling the bike through that situation.

It wasn't your guys and I'm not calling anyone squids. We all have riding in common but unfortunately we all have different views on how we should ride or what makes a ride fun for us. In this case, those two could wheelie like no tomorrow (which I respect since my wheelies are low and short at best) but they were fairly slow in the turns. I didn't mind when they held back to leave a safe distance before ripping a stand-up down the road but I wish they would have offered me the courtesy of waving me by when we got into the twisties so I could lean it over at a good clip. Instead they lagged in the turn then got on the throttle after the turn making it difficult to safely and politely pass.

could you tell the maroon SV and other newbies, do not pass in same lane in a group unless you are wave to get pass. pass on double yellow, if they have to i dont care, if they want to get up front with their buddies.

    +1

we could pass them on the curve but then they would pass you back on straight to be up front and this could go back and forth which isn't good.

I rode sweeper up until the Mohawk trail and the Maroon SV
was weaving into oncoming traffic to avoid manhole covers
    and other debris.

I understand that he's young and not as responsible as
some of the others on the ride but he shouldn't put other
    peoples lives in jeopardy.

    That's all. Rant = complete

God i'm only 28..what's happening to me??? I sound old!

I was riding the Ti. I am confused as to what I did. Was I the guy holding you up in the corners or did I pass someone. I do not recall passing anyone in the same lane. I tried to stay in the same spot.....If I held you up Sorry I didn't see you in the mirror. Let me know so next time I won't do it again. I don't want to look like a dick you know!

If you're bothered by squids, cops and bikes, you better just hang up riding.

It was a great ride with a few instances of new group rider issues, a few minutes of rain and a short conversation with the law on the side of the road. Again, this was a GREAT ride and people are only forwarding on some advice to make the next one better. Seriously, don't trash this ride.

As for passing in the lane, that's something that needed to be discussed in the rider meeting and it was over looked. I've read other group rider guidelines that state, "If a staggered formation is broken, move up and fill the gap." I certainly think swapping lane sides is safer than passing in a lane, but it was our fault for not mentioning it, not the new rider's.

    Rob -

That is ENTIRELY my fault. Group Ride etiquette should have been addressed (i.e wheelies, lane formation etc.) after lunch.
Sometimes I assume that people have a sense of courtesy and responsibility.
Other than a few instances I would agree that it was a GREAT group ride.
    Thanks for showing up!

I actually brought that up after the last group ride I did (before this one). Nikon's ride is next week and I'm actually bringing a few copies of the rules with me. Call me a bitch, but I think they're important for EVERYONE to read and agree to.
