Sunday Oct. 1st Berkshires/VT

It's going to be beautiful in the Berkshires and Vermont this coming weekend, going to ride on Sunday Oct. 1st, this time we would like to ride more Vermont roads, so we will do some Berkshires roads but not much. Might also consider going at the summit of Mount Greylock, it's going to be gorgeous up there.


Meeting spot: 9:00 a.m. at the gas station/Friendly's Restaurant, off I-91 (exit 15) in Holyoke/Ingleside.

Pace will be medium (anywhere from 10 to 40 MPH over), so if you are new at riding and think you can't keep at least a medium pace, this is not a ride you might want in...

Post up if you want to come.

P.S. If some of you are considering having breakfast at Friendly's before the ride, let us know.

I should be able to make this.

The leaf peepers are going to be out, and there's going to most likely be leaves on the ground. Wet Leaves + Medium Pace = Problems.

I'll know for sure by the end of the week.

Well about the leaves...it might not be in full force for them to fall of the trees yet...so we'll see as we get there, and we'll adjust the pace accordingly. Nobody wants to see anyone go down.

The last time this spring Greylock road a total mess a patch or pot hole every 10 feet. Also there was a parking fee now.

I don't object but seems like a rip for a 10 minute look see stop. The fee was same for single occupancy bike or 15 passenger Van. Another example of the treehuggers running the parks department. Whatever discourages Joe average citizen from going into the sacred woods is good policy.

Due to bad pavement we lost over an hour just up from N adams and back down.

Have been to Greylock once this year, not too bad...actually...it was when I dumped my bike because we were mistakenly sent on a dirt road...lol We don't "have to" go up there, if the majority don't want to, we'll skip it, no biggie here.

Just got a new rear tire(already put 150 miles on it sunday), so some nice twisties will hit the spot.

I am usually up early in the am so I will shoot for breakfast at Friendly's.

Nooo...it's a different one, and not sure why it's not on Friendly's website "restaurant finder". As you come off exit 15 you'll go RIGHT on Lower Westfield Rd. As you go towards the lights, look on your left, you'll see the Friendly's, attached to a Hotel, and next to it, the gas station, which is on the corner of L. Westfield Rd and Whiting Farms Rd. You can't miss it!

Can't do it on Saturday, have to attend bartending class... If you go, make sure to rip some of those curves for me... Weather might change for Sunday, as it always does....we'll see.
