    Thinking about a road trip

Since I am new to NE, I am thinking about taking a couple days and doing a trip thru NH, VT, MAINE and just find the best roads I can. . I would prob camp and ride , maybe 3-4 days. Any suggestions? Would any one be interested in joining... I was going to go to Deals but It's been done so much and t is not close anymore. I think I am ready to check out new sites and get to know my new home...

Last yr. I did a ride to upstate Maine, right by the canadian border. moose country. it was awesome & it's great roads up there & you get to see moose at moose alley. great place & also cheap to stay at a motel up there.

Re: Thinking about a road trip

i am looking at either last few days of July or the first of August. Since I won't be going to Colombia with my family this year i decided to take my own vacation for my self while they are gone. So a scenic fun road trip is excatly what I need after not riding for 7 months.lol The best part is, I am flexible.

I'm off 8/6-8/12 and would be willing to ride around. I've also been really considering a trip to nova scotia.

Jeff, Nice to see another Tona rider in here. If you are planning on coming to Maine let me know. I live on Sebago Lake in Standish. If you are headed up this way try to get on Route 153 from near Sanford Maine, to Freedom NH. If you are in the area I know a few roads around the lake. Let me know!

I am also taking a camping trip on the bike this weekend, Riding Coastal route 1 North, will let you know how it is.

    What is your riding style?
I'm an old fart on an Aprilia. I usually run a very brisk pace.

If anyone is truly interested please PM me you email address so I can provide more detail. Once it is closer we can all meet up, have a beer and discuss routes and lodging etc.... Thanks

Sebago lake is beautiful, me and my family go camping up there almost every summer. Might be doing it again mid/late Aug.

Do you have a GPS? How many hours a day do you want to ride?

Re: Thinking about a road trip

GPS check (do not really know how to program well but it works.....

How many hrs? a crap load

It will take the day and we can do some nice riding and be in Maine for the first night. It will take the full day for Maine plus some. So depends on the time frame on how much we need to book it. I for sure, at least want to do NH, ME and VT. Thats 3-4 fulldays. It would be cool just to say we went into Canada as well.
I have hit up several sites on routes and very little feedback , so a lot really depends on the roads we get.

I am a get up eat and ride till sunset guy. With the stops for pics, eat and pee

Looking at state parks for free/cheap camping. spend little as possible but depends on what happens a motel could be an option. But would rather put up a tent and call it a night.

Just want to explore / ride and live a little while I can

Re: Thinking about a road trip

If you go to the makin' tracks section of advrider there are all sorts of GPS routes as well as ride reports.

BMWMO VT has routes laid out.

I'd be inclined to ride out to W. MA, than ride Rt 100 up to do the Gap roads.

Then head E across NH most of the way to the Maine coast. But there is a lot of riding in VT, NH, or ME to do, just depends on whether you want to hit all of them in one trip or not.

Re: Thinking about a road trip

See, this is where it gets tricky. I have NO clue about any roads here and also have no clue how to downlaod others GPS maps. but i am going to find out how

I know, but when I come from the south I know every road, every turn.

Have no idea where I am going. I was just gonna link together the little info i find, plan a route, find sites to camp and just ride. My biggest fear is missing all the good stuff..

I like the unknown........ (i need good roads with tight twisties.....)
