    Vermont Roads Tour: Part 1

Alright peeps...there's been lots of interest from some of you with T**** Rd and other "local knowledge" roads in VT.
This weekend is looking like the first good weekend of the summer, thus we should take full advantage with a good ride.
T**** Rd however, will have to wait, unless ya'll want to be kickin it with the Americade Cruisers that will be tearing it up...

Im thinking meet in Wilmington Vt at 11:30ish (or earlier) and proceed up RT 100 and hit RT 17 and then the possibilities are endless, though I would imagine some Southern VT guys leading us around the twisties before heading to 17...

    OR

We can meet at Hraefnwood Cafe (11:30ish) in Bellows Falls and go exploring with ErictheJet after he feeds us!
Hit up some VT East Shit (Rt 5, 12, 4, 106 etc.) and swing into NH too.

Scattered T-Storms and 80+ is the forecast right now...

    Whatcha think?

Re: Vermont Roads Tour: Part 1

You didn't mention what day this weekend.

Not that it matters to me. I'll have to pass on this one. Meeting in Wilmington or Bellows Falls for the start of the ride would make it a wicked long day for me.

Plus, southern VT roads are going to be crammed with Americade people too. Might be a better idea to wait a week or two and do some roads in the Adirondacks and the northern half of Vermont (far enough from Laconia not to get too much of their traffic), and then do southern VT roads some other time.

My Triumph RAT pack is doing an Adirondacks ride on Saturday the 21st which will definitely include T**** Rd, so maybe we should just combine that with an NESR ride.

if you run the southern part of 100 and or 30 or 9.

let your leader get a good lead on the rest of the group, then when he runs through one of the radar traps you dont all get tickets.

they run it on the button, so unless they hit the button on someone in front of you a radar dectector wont help.

they've been busy in the area for the past several weeks in addition to rt 9 e of wilmington and marlboro.

Definitely plan on the 21st then. We'll figure out logistics when it gets closer.

As for this weekend, I'm busy Sunday, but if you want to go for a ride Saturday, I'm open. Maybe hit Rt 110 south from Barre to South Royalton, hit the Rochester Gap, head north on 100 to the App Gap...?

Re: Vermont Roads Tour: Part 1

Update -- The Rt 110/etc ride I suggested is starting to come together. A couple of the guys from my Triumph RAT pack are interested too.

I'm thinking of getting a slightly later start so I have a little time in the morning to clean the Triumph up (got caught in the rain Tuesday) and do some maintenance. Maybe meet at 10am in Burlington or 11am at the corner of Rt 302 and Rt 110?

Re: Vermont Roads Tour: Part 1

Update 2 -- If you want to make it a longer loop, we could head from South Royalton down through Pomfret, Woodstock, and Plymouth to Rt 140, take that west to Poultney, and then take Rt 30 north back to Middlebury.

Rt 14 is kind of boring though. 110 is a lot more fun. But if it's gotten roughed up that bad, might need to think of another route.

The run in and out of Chelsea is the worst supposedly paved road I have ever ridden in my life probably it's all 4 inch broken asphault chunks.

The floating bridge is closed too you know and the bridge on Rt 2 in Middlebury.

VT DOT is in rough shape too because of the economy.

It takes a lot of diesel to run those trucks out to lean on shovels you know.

    rough=bad

lets not make it too long, possible BBQ with the work crew and an eveninf bike ride coming together as well...I'm down for whatever, was thinking about hitting up some stuff in Milton and getting around the lake in N/S. Hero...but I know all those roads.
Lets do some exploring round Central VT...

Okay, how about this then -- App Gap, Rt 100 south to 103, 103 west to 140, 140 west to Poultney (great road), then 30 north to Middlebury, maybe with a detour along 144 around Lake Hortonia.

No, not 140+, none of my bikes will even go that fast. And besides, I value my license and the cops are swarming all over the place, especially with Americade happening this weekend.

I'm pretty sure I'm in. I just have to remember to bring my camelback (that means frequent pee breaks) since it's supposed to be 91* on Saturday and really humid. I really wish my pants were perforated...

I'd be interested in a southern-VT tour, but I can't go this weekend (sounds like this has turned into a mid-to-northern-VT tour anyway). Hope to join you guys next time.
