I talked to the 11 year olds mechanic afterwards (yes, he has a mechanic NOT his father) and he said the kid was 10 seconds off his normal pace too.

Carlton I dont think you have a chance, he was pretty terrified when you tried to talk to him.
So...my turn!
What an awesome trip. Huge salute to Matt for setting this up! Here are a few things I learned!
- I learned that its still cool to be old and slow! As long as I don't feel any wood at my shoulders when I awake life is good! (Thanks for that one Cos...!)
- Matt can drive a long ass rig like a Smart Car. He can park in places that don't even exist and straighten hairpin twisties into interstate 8 lanes.
- Dan is a funny bastard and fast on that SV. It was neat to find we had a mutual friend! Heal up and try and take at least some of whatever advice the medical community has for you..!
- Ritchie's a good kid. Gonna be a badass racer too!
- Kim rocks on her 800SS. Track days are good for the red meat industry too! And man, how sweet does that thing sound! (...oh...and look out boys, she has a license to race...!)
- Kevin can keep up with the fast guys. Great moment was his describing his bike to the Pics Of You guy. Uh, its orange, with blue, and black, and...well, no real dominant color...
- Paul's faked....what a pleasure to watch someone light up with the experience of learning to really ride on a track. He's a good man...and a good guy to have at your back. He and Matt spend most of Monday night working on Matts bike.
- Carelton's great to watch on the track and a funny guy off. As long as you're visiting the doc for your foot, you might have your bowels checked. Between you and Wookie there is something seriously wrong with your digestive systems. Nothing living should smell that way! Heal up quick!
I didnt take any pictures at the track but Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket will get you to some of the ride down!
Thanks all for letting me hang with you youngsters!
Oh...and for those wondering about Ritchies new nic...

update on my right foot: multiple tibial fractures, 6 weeks in cast, green goes 1st
Damn man, that sucks ass. Now I almost feel bad making you hop everywhere. Though it was pretty funny in the restaurant.
no worries $bill, it was funny.
Ahh dam Carlton 6 weeks huh, sucks. Guess ya won't be going to calabogie in May, good luck man.
Wow, Carlton gets the tough guy award: riding home 13 hours in a crowded pickup truck with a broken foot and no pain killers.
Weren't you walking around on that thing right after the crash? I think you "hobbled" into the VIR office right after the crash.
Also, this doesn't down play Dan's 13+ hour trip in a RV with minimal or no pain killers. Especially the part where DucDave weaved though traffic. It was like a fucking earth quake.
Know what you mean the fit really hit the shan while I was away. I am more tired from work today than two TD's and driving thru the night.
My .02
# 1 road trip of too many I have been on over the years.
Thanks everyone for not taking me too seriously.
to NESR skeptics BERGS is a standup guy and a good friend to have on your side
Kim THANKS again for letting me ROCK the SS. That thing is harmony!
Carlton you are a funny MoFo ...heal up fast
Dave I could not ask for a better adversary and friend all wrapped up in one ... see you saturday am ... "A toast to the VOLE"
Dan Thanks for looking out for me, even though I don't always understand why.
Kev Whoo hoo for rockin the fast group with the bros from jersey. thanks for the co-piloting and for informing dave about the mpg thing
Cosmo!!!! a man comfortable with his femininity and being in the way of the fat guy on a Hawk ...I know that would be the only way to practice holding one off from passing you on the EX .. "My son, you are forgiven" :poke:
I look forward to hanging with yu'all this summer
Man sounds like one hell of an adventure. Good seeing most of you at Pete’s. Wish the trip was better for Dan and Carlton. Heal up quick. See most if not all of you soon.
Matt. Guess you did not get the 7mpg you were hoping for. 80mph will do that. Ouch
yea, I knew something was wrong just before we took off from VIR when I tried putting weight on it. But, since we were coming home, 13 hrs is nothing.
docs said the bowel thing is only going to get worst with age, you should know.
wife is great, she is a trooper, like my personal nurse.
thanks
:stupid:
Chiming in...wish I had a chance sooner than this...:dunno:...work hit me hard as well...plenty of fires to put out that's for sure.
First off, thank you everyone for the kind words......it means alot coming from the perfect group of people to ride, dine and drive with.
Let me take a moment to say that Cornerspeed is worth every damn penny and then some....I will return for the Level 2 (or even Cornerspin) hopefully later this year.
The 1 on 1 session was instrumental for me with regards to Tuesday's track day in particular.
A man named Jason Wood was my instructor for this and, even though we didn't really have a "game plan" to speak of before we rolled out, alls I had to tell him was I was having problems getting through Turn 3 to set up 4 and 5...after that, the rest is history...:beerbang:
This trip is something I'll remember for a lifetime and this group that attended VIR only complimented it even further.
Carlton- Thank you for being a stellar travel companion on the way there but especially on the way back. Even on the ride home and after spending a day in much pain with a busted leg, making sure I was still okay to drive in between your naps is the thing that kept me rolling. And don't worry, I won't tell anyone about the singing session we had in CT... Heal up soon!
Kevin- Your offer to take over driving duty in my truck was outstanding and unexpected. I'm not sure how it came about or if it even matters that much how, but just to know that you were willing to offer (more than once) is something else.
Kim- My favorite class-mate! I must say it was great to see you ripping around on that 800. Riding the rain sessions sucked but you stepped right up to it and did your thing...:hellyeah:...an inspiration to commitment for sure!
Dan- That poor horse will never be the same and I have the picture to prove it!:teehee: It was really great to meet and talk to you. Your pieces of advice further complimented what I learned in the class. I hope you can see why I wanted to commit myself to riding the 929.
Rich- You complete Dan...:poke: Your presence only reinforced the positive vibe in our group. The laughs...oh my fricken goodness the laughs...
Matt- Yamabond 4 is good for Hawks too, no? Glad to have spent some time shootin' the poop and catching up on things while we did the repairs. Even happier to see that it all worked out! You know, while we were going through the twisties heading out to the highway, I was thinking two things...1) "WTF Matt! Who's bright idea was this?" and 2) "I would really like to take my bike out right about now and rip these turns."
Dave- I hope I never see you in the buck ever again!:deathslap: Yeah, that's right...I look over to see your beemin' white ass...:teehee:
You're lucky I couldn't find my camera quick enough. As always, it was a pleasure on many levels.
I hope we can do the Cornerspin thing we'd talked about...maybe fit in some more track time at VIR. That North course is outstanding!
Thanks again to Matt for posting this trip!
My dream has been to ride VIR at some point and this trip helped me realize that dream. Taking Cornerspeed and being with this group made it all the better.
WELL SAID ....Well said
did you guys ride while down there cause I dont see any pictures of riding???
Hey Carlton,
Sorry to hear about the get off.
It looked pretty sudden with no warning from the video.
Get better soon so we can see you up at Louden real soon.
And most importantly is your bike ok?
:naughty:
-Akira
Sounds like it was a great time! Hope you all heal from the get offs quickly!
Thanks for posting up the videos and pictures for us poor saps to see!
