Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza
What about the Pizza Hut in Essex?
That place is always dead...and there is a large parking lot. They seem to do alot of fundraisers (car-washes) there so I bet the management would be more than happy to accomodate.
Tons of routes to parade laps, and pretty easy to get in and out of, yet still a busy street.
Just a thought...I'm down with Al's...I have to give a big NO to Starbucks though. :)

How about Moe's/ Starbucks?
Where the hell did Vix posts go?
Street visible is a HUGE plus. Starbucks is just too....BMW ;) hehe...
Monday nights are good for me. Maybe a gradual switchover, tuesdays are still good too though.
I don't think we should split into two nights, we would lose too many people and we all know momentum carries....in either direction.
*EDIT* Ty - Pizza Hut isn't a bad idea. Is it that visible from the road though? The lot is kinda behind the drive.
Wherever we are, the building needs to have a good 'open' environment.

Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza
Where ever we go we also have to be aware of the community. No taking tables away for ladies and babies and old people. :D
I think a Pizza Hut/ Mc' D's / Burger King esque would not be good do to the nature of the business. Not really a "Hang out" spot but good thought.
How about the Zacary's pizza out in the Bay?
I have a call out to Al's I have heard of issues with the owners, may be previous owners but... we shall see.
Oh and...
Moe's is right next to Starbucks! It would be at Moe's :D not at Starbucks!

Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza
There are some restaurants near the Essex outlet area, Mimmo's has great pizza and other healthier alternatives. Cody's is also nearby, they have a huge selection of menu items. There's a bit of parking but on busy nights forget it - parking lot is packed. If considering that area I'd pass through a few different week nights and see what the lot looks like.
In the Essex outlet area is Tiny Thai and Foodee's. I believe there is ample parking there for sure, not sure about room inside the restaurants though. Something that could be checked out.
These are right on Route 15, nice for riding, right off of 289, fun to ride too, near River Road/117, etc. They are not "central" for visibility but are likely to have less traffic congestion getting there, ample parking, and are near some nice roads to ride for the parade lap.
Just a few ideas....

Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza
What about Marco's right on williston road? Next to the hair salon and the blockbuster. All those shops close at 5 I believe except the pizza place and blockbuster. So tons of right near the road parking and more in back.
-
Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza
Grand Union / Rite Aid / JoAnne's Fabrics, etc share the back lot. If we are looking at Williston Road, may I suggest the Ground Round - pretty good food, good menu selection, and a decent sized lot although I'm not sure how packed it might be on certain weeknights. It's also a little further away from the biggest congestion on Williston Road.

Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza
What about New York Pizza Over in Essex (I think it used to be Hoagies?) right next to the fairgrounds. A HUGE parking lot right along route 15 for when this gets to be a 200 bike event.
pizza loc: Essex Junction, VT - Google Maps

That is right next to Moe's right?
Vix those areas you mention don't really have the "visibilty" a major item in selection of a site.
Site selection criteria (Major)
1. Visible from a major road.
2. Plenty of parking
3. Moto friendly establishment
4. Easy in and out :naughty:
5. Decreased customer traffic on Teusday night so we are bringing more business to them and can make it "our" night.
6. Good interior space with views of the bikes.
(minor)
1. No Alcohol (not a deal breaker)
2. Good food/ selection
3. Coffee
4. Outdoor dining
Anyone add to the list?

Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza
I'd throw in "outdoor dining" as a real bonus if any of the venues you look at offer it. I think it would be great to have the food, bikes, and socializing all happen in pretty much the same place.
-
Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza
I know I am starting to get picky fellas... Areas near specific motorcycle shops might not be all that good either.
I'd rather keep it closer to Donny's than Farther since we have a good group that can make it there. Lets stick to a 3 mile radius around Donny's if we can.

Do Picnic tables count?

New York Pizza is 3.9 miles from the roundabout in Winooski.

Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza
Moe's is a no go... too busy according to the manager.

Nope, it is right near Al's. If you are facing the road from Al's it is to your right.

It's near Franks, Land Air, and the Harley Davidson dealer. I don't see the conflict...

To clarify. It is right next store to Frank's motorcycle shop. I am trying not to show a bias to a shop.
-
Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza
Oh and one more criteria. A large area for a crowd of people for "events" :D

I think you're thinking about the wrong place.
I'm talking about the pizza shop in the shopping center with Aubuchons, next to the fairgrounds and across-ish from Big Lots.
It's got a gigantic parking lot with plenty of room for bikes and is on one of the busiest roads in Chittenden County.
And tons of room for "events".
Check it out here so there is no confusion: Google Maps

Yep I got confused. Was thinking of the place out in Essex center.
How big is it inside there? As big or bigger than Donny's?

Re: Vt Bike Night, Tuesdays at Donny's Pizza
