Crotched Mountain - Bennington, NH

HAs anyone ever been to this mountain? Apparently they have been closed since 1989, but are re-opening this month. As of January they will offer night skiing/riding until 3AM

Best thing about it, it's only about 60 miles from Boston.

Perhaps this can be another NESR winter sport desitination...I mean...skiing until 3AM?!!!!WOO HOOO

Just so you know, Crotched Mountain is out in the middleofnowhere, USA. Unless they mark it with signage better than they have in the past, it's a pain to find. And I even know where it is, and I miss it sometimes when I aim to hit it as a stop off when I'm riding out that way. We used to go up there when we were kids for joy rides...

I might head up some weekend in January, once they begin the midnight madness hours.
It's worth a shot I guess...only 60 miles from beantown and all.

If I were coming up from Boston, I'd most likely take route 2 to route 13 north (in Fitchburg, I believe). I'd take that to route 101 (west), and take that to route 31. Go north on route 31 (I think through Wilton) and take that to route 47. I'm pretty sure you take route 47 (east) for a few miles and you should see it. 'Course, I'm going by memory here. And well, let's just say it's not as good as it was...

Hopefully they'll have better signage this go around. I SERIOUSLY think that was a big problem before...

I live down the road from it. There are several road signs that point to Crotched Mtn, shouldnt be hard to find. I think its a small mountain though.

The Mtn. is close to some nice twisty roads. Very nice roads for summer riding

I got good 3 or 4 trackdays on mine plus some street miles,no complaints here.

Click the link below. That's with only one brief ride on it, and Metz didn't warranty it. Both sides of the tire were fucked up like that -- fucker would just let go violently when heeled over. Was as if the rubber near the edge wasn't cured or something. Piece of crap. Was my second set of M-1's, and last. Good tires, but D208ZRs are just as good, without that super tall rear tire effecting geometry.

Back to snow....

Last call...a 750 of JD will last all night and then some. JD and coke will keep ya warm.

Not sure if 24 hour diners exist in NH.

Some of em have even been paved recently. Fresh pavement on a twisty road, dont get much better.

There used to be a coupla out your way. One kinda between the campus and the 'mall in the mill', and one up route 101 just a bit, toward S-town. 'Course, that was about 15 years ago...

Think I read that Metzeler had a recall on some M-1's. Oct/Nov, maybe Dec. '03 "Sport Rider" published it I believe.

Sounds like a good Friday or Saturday adventure with frequent trips to the car for

breaks!
