Gary, got your call the other night, sorry I already had plans. I did want to make it this year but yet again, timing was not on my side.
As for snowboarding being better then skiing, I completely disagree! However, a day on the trail with friends is what it is all about. It does not matter if they ski or board! I will let my boarding friends borrow a pole on the flats but having to wait for them to catch up does suck. I have skiied with a couple very good boarders who could do any terrain (bumps included) and it was great fun. My main reason in disliking snowboarding has to do with the space they need and the amount of snow they push off. The comment made about snowboarding being better out west, well you should have worded that by saying skiing and boarding both are better out west. The east gives you the ability to ski any terrain out there but the snow and terrain is better by far, don't get me wrong heading north is better than nothing and we do get a couple great days a years, you just have to be ready to head north when it snows.
the fact that i can ski on the 6ft of the edge of the trail where the snow has been pushed is nice, you only get one turn in it with a board. i ride with alot of SBers and i dont care. they will ride anything. the MOST annoying thing about SBers is the fact that they all SIT in a line ACROSS the fucking trail waiting for who knows what

I have nothing against snowboarders, unless they are riding trails and pitches that are too steep and scraping snow (see comment above).
I propose those of us that get our adrenaline fix in the winter on skis or boards plan a trip up to Tuckermans in early April or late March. I know we're all thinking about track days at that point, but Tucks is great fun and can be a rush. I'll have to post the idea later in the season.

NO LIMIT
Warren Miller is OK, but TGR and MSP have it all over him for sure.
Glen Plake will always be #1 in my book. The dude STILL rocks the long boards in the bumps.
If it's cold, we might as well have a ton of snow. I hate cold weather & no snow to play in.

An NESR Carving trip is in order. Skiers and Boarders welcome.
I will bring the two planks and the board and decide at the mountain Depending on conditions which to break out..
I like both equally.

i got shafted. didnt go. hit the reset instead of snooze and woke up at 530 which is the time i was supposed to be meeting people to go. i called. they said they didnt want to wait the 15-20 min it was gonna take for me to get there... so i went to sleep instead. i easily could have drove myself up there but i was hoping to sleep on the way up. oh well. they had 9 trails. and they had gotten 6" of fresh stuff the day before.
im going to WM tonight in ports (9:00)...ill get my tickets and do some skiing this season.
if anyone has a monday that they want to go waterville valley i think they do a 2 for 1 on mondays.

Woot! Had a blast at Mt. Snow. It wasn't half bad really. Bitter cold and windy, a little boilerplate, but overal decent manmade coverage and a few top to bottom runs. Snowmaking in progress on all open runs. A little crowded on the slopes.
Lisa and I could have fun on a 2 foot wide strip of snow though, so don't expect mid season conditions. We ripped it up for our first day out!
now you're talking! Tuckerman's is where it's at in the spring.
seems to me like a bunch of motorcycle-racing guru's arguing about whether two planks are better than one and which film company produces the best ski videos is a lot like a bunch of monkey's trying to f*ck a doorknob... all standing around, scratching their heads and rubbing their balls
besides, anyone who is anyone in the snow industry knows that skiers go bigger and rip harder due to their anatomically larger balls and that Level1Productions (a local Vermont company created by Josh Berman) and Poor Boyz Productions make the best vids... Warren Miller is burnt out (though due credit is given for progressing the sport), MSP are a bunch of sell-outs, and Teton Gravity... well, actually Teton is pretty damned good too.
