Deal's Gap 2013 - Old Thread

Planning has begun on Deal's Gap 2013 trip.

I'm shooting for Week 3 of September, which puts us at the house from the 21st to the 28th.

Leaving Friday night for the all night drive, get to the house around 2:00pm Saturday. Mehickin food for dinner, then we can get up Sunday and enjoy the roads for a solid 6 days.

I'll be taking my truck again most likely and can take someone else with me, or I can drive down with someone else, but I'll be taking two bikes again.

We are reserved for the Ridge house this time with the massive hanger-like garage.

Cost will depend on how many is going. House is $1262 total including all taxes and fees for the week. If 5 people go, that's about $250 each for the whole week.

The house sleeps 7 on beds, plus another on the sofa in the living room. More people go, cheaper it gets for everyone.



"Oh I wicked want to go but I can't because I'm a huge loser and a brokedick and won't find a way even though I could def do it" etc, don't bother. Just post up if you will go.


We typically make this a cheap trip. Just gotta pay for the house, gas and food. Dinners at the house most nights, along with breakfast. Lunch out usually is less than $20 per meal. Hell, even when we go out to dinner (Mehickin downtown), it's usually under $15 a person. Beer is reasonably cheap over in TN and is also one of the best rides of the trip.

Sportbikes are welcome, most people have the best time on an adventure bike/naked/motard since we typically do a bunch of riding each day. If you have both, bring them and you won't regret it. If you just have a sportbike, we'll make due with your ass-whining at the end of the long days

Thanks HS. I messaged friends the dates. we were planning a memorial trip for a friend who died last Jan. They won't let me not be there so....even if I'm not staying at the house w/ you...chances are I'll be around. Will let you know whats up!

If the tree house has high speed net, I might be able to work from there a couple days and in the evenings. I'd ride down. I don't plan shit this far out though. I'm just starting to plan next months vacation.

The hangup right now is being gone for a full week without offending the wife. But I am actively working on her.

She has her 2x per year uber-super-dooper major work even on the 19th. She'll be working like 14 hour days that week. That's good that she wouldn't notice if I'm not around. Bad that somebody needs to take care of the dogs. I'm about to suggest we hire someone to check in on them or pawn them off on family for the week.

I am a square. I don't party too hard. I'm think I've become a middle age working stiff zombie when I wasn't looking. But I am good for my share of rent and gas/tolls on a ride down.

This is true, also, pro-tip (noob-tip?), don't crash on the first day or the ball busting may reach rape proportions. When Lisa busts your balls you know you really blew it. Hahaha! Fortunately he WILL fix the damage to your bike for you with matching body work:
