    Where's that article?

i think it was entitled "The Ride" or something similar & simple like that... it had a section that talked about how most experienced riders will never use their brakes on a spirited ride cuz they'll let off the throttle & use the engine to brake to set up for the turn long before the turn-in point... It was a great article & i THOUGHT it was in the "Group Ride Rules!!!..." thread that's stickied, but i didn't see it maybe i missed it

    Where's that article?

th sentence below probably cause a lot of disagreement. i would go with the track.

"I'd rather spend a Sunday in the mountains riding at The Pace than a Sunday at the racetrack, it is that enjoyable."

    Where's that article?

On one of the rides last year, a big one to VT, I followed Degsy a whole bunch of times.
After reading that article again, all i can think of is how much fun it was to follow Degs through the turns that day... so smooth, so easy, yet very quick and FUN!
Never once was i concerned about getting on the brakes in time for the next turn but we were still carrying a lot of corner speed, getting the bike way over without getting off the seat etc...
It was one of the best street days i ever been on.

    He must know Nick!

    Where's that article?

i dont use t he breaks in the turns much. it is fun keeping the bike up in the revs and then let the engine slow you down going in and then having the power of the lower gear coming out of the cornor going into the next..

    Cool!

When I'm streetriding (which isn't as often as I would like) I like to try to go through the twisties on engine alone, braking as little as possible. I'm really not one of the fast street guys, but I can get around ok for an old guy.

I like following Mick (Zombie) on the street. He is very fast and smooth, but he is an ex-motorcycle courier and occasionally takes a couple of chances (by his own admission) that I just can't/won't hang with.

Fastest street rider I have ever met? Paul Gilbert (racerx, he pops up here from time to time). Randy is a great street rider too (but he usually rides sweep so you can't follow him). I got to follow him once for about 40 miles. When we stopped I told him his brake light was out, but it wasn't. He hadn't hit the brakes in 40 miles of twisties, THATS smooth riding (we weren't breaking any records, but we weren't hanging around either).
