sorry man, where did this happen?
Not sure if you guys were in the Vanilla Bean area, but there is one turn on 171 that I know has claimed a few riders. Comes up real quick and is deceiving.

Mason Road in Jefferson/Holden. Kind of residential. The road is much fun but many hills causing blind corners. I was greeted by one of the residents who told us that that corner has claimed several bikes in the past. I'm thankful they didn't have a stone wall out front!

Was a tough left-hander. Went into it a little fast, Shannon was actually on Cheese's GSXR, trying it out. The first 2 bikes made the turn, but tightly (joseph & Cheese, on Shannon's 550E) Shannon drove off the road and onto the grass a little. (I remember her saying to us, "oh no, not on his bike, not on his bike")

Next up was fasterthanu (I think) he pulled the brakes, then I did and locked my rear and started coming around. Busa was right behind me and did the same, but his back end slid around pretty fast. I let off on my brakes when I heard the bike hit the ground behind me. I think the bike would've been ridable if the case didn't get scraped open and spilled oil.

At least the dude who came out to see if we were alright was nice enough to stash the Busa until they could get someone with a pickup.

I felt like crap, because I felt somewhat responsible.

It will not happen like that to me again. We all need to be aware and ready for whatever may happen on roads like this. The speed we were riding at with the hills and blind corners laeving more room between riders would make sense. If I stayed another 20 feet or so behind you who knows how it would have turned out. While I was riding back there last night in a pick up, just over a hill we had to stop quickly for two kids crossing the road with a pony on a leash. Imagine if we hit that!

That was a first for me (watching in the rear view mirror as someone else took my gixxer dual sport across a lawn.) She didn't get hurt and kept it up though so no foul. Maybe she did it as revenge for me tryin' hard to get a knee down on her GS500?

While I was watching her get back onto the pavement I saw Busa's crash in my mirror too. I stopped to turn around and Shannon thought for sure I had stopped to chew her out.

Busa, the good news is you didn't miss anything down in CT after your get off. The guy we met down there took us on some great Harley roads. Slow and scenic even though he was riding a Kawi 636. Shannon and I were itchin' to pass him up and just go but we had no map so just followed.

I don't know if he's on the board or not but if he is, he needs to talk to someone soon about riding. He was counter leaning! No I don't mean counter steering, I mean leaning the bike inside the turn and the body outside of the turn. That's going to cause some troubles someday ...

Everyone rides their own ride. The leader waits at the next intersection for all riders to catch up.

No, I wasn't expecting you to .... let's just say you were trail braking ... but that's my fault for not giving you enough space so I could ride my own ride. It's a sweet turn. I need to hit it again on my own bike.

IT would be a really sweet turn if it did not have that straight cut drop off in the pavement where the other road comes in.. What reall screwed me was that road caught me off gaurd i didn't know which was i was supposed to go, and that second of trying to think kinda screwed me, in hind sight i shoulda not even thought about it and kept in the turn and if i was unsure stopped on the straight away.. My lack of group leading experience..

    That's one reason I don't like leading.

thats right every one needs to ride there OWN ride and also we all were alittle tight going into the turn, and also it was a bit of a chain reaction every one got on the brakes but unfortunatly the busa, being heavier than most bikes, didnt want to slide as much as most would so it hit hard parts then sand then fortunatly enough hit sloped lawn and not rocks trees or the mail box (by about 3') but all is well and you cant realy blame any one btw nice saying funnyguy were did i hear that before???? just kiddin to all be safe and ride your own ride, and hell take it off-road dual sport style if ya want

Well....the doctors took a real close look and after a full exam and all the x-rays...here's the prognosis:

    Front rim - undamaged
    Front Forks: - undamaged
    Frame: - undamaged
    Crankcase: - undamaged
    Crankcase cover: - D.O.A.

The real damage is all cosmetic. Nose cone, side panel, rear piece and just the cannon on one side pipe. The pipe itself is not bent or even scratched, just the barrel.

I'm thinking maybe $1500 to $2000 if I buy the parts and do it myself (less if I get lucky on E-Bay)

the cannon on one side pipe? aka exhaust? i have a muffler, i painted it black though.. but you can always strip the paint off or something. just engine paint. You can have it for free. let me know. also, if its all bodywork... talk to badaszx9r on onedownfiveup.com ... man does EXCELLENT body work and would probably be able to hook ya up with a decentpaint job. his site is www.screamin-customs.com ! Let me know if u need anything.

btw... i didnt see you earlier that day... ? i had the busa with the fire?

I won a bid on E-bay yesterday for a new side pipe, still in the box for $60.00.
