Hehe, word.... by now you know Richie's effin w/ ya... but, for the sake of playing the nice devil's advocate... :P
I like the open road, trees, mountains just as much as you do.... but don't forget, there's a LOT of things the track can offer that the street can't (No cops, no traffic, no sand, no intersections.... road consistency, so you can concentrate on riding technique rather than then unseen & unknown just around the bend.... etc etc etc.)
Think of the street & the track as two very different wild animals... each one is equally fun and exciting trying to tame... the street takes a little more mental skill to tame where as the track takes a little more physical & technical skill to tame.
I like Alex's idea, put together a street ride that makes a stop at Loudon during a race weekend... you can come watch the action, walk around the pits, check out the race bikes, etc.... Think of OUR invitation as a thank-you in response to YOUR invitation :)
Look for ECK Racing if ya decide to swing by :hellyeah:
:gayfight:
I go both ways.
Street and track, that is ;)
I bet no matter what, we'd all have a fun time meeting up at a nudie bar! (unless its in chelsea)

richies a dick!
The man has a point. I am going to start New England Super Racer Boyz.com, where life is always lived a quarter mile at a time. Or maybe a mile and a half. Hey, you could live your life three miles at a time if it's a big enough track. The point is, there will be vests. And people with names like SpeedRacer404AwesomeDudeSoFast. So you know how awesome fast we are. And that we race. Which makes us awesome.
Richie is becoming a Mini me.
I have another way to think of the track (now that this thread has been hijacked)
(and this might come off a defensive but I don't mean it to)
It has been said that "going around in circles on a track is boring" Well if you go around that circle and never get it right I can't see how boring it is. I don't know about the rest of the track junkies but I don't have the time nor the inclination to take in the scenery at the track. I am just trying to improve that last corner the next time i come around because I blew the exit that time (and I get another chance next lap!), which improves my riding and hopefully improves my laptime.
The street is where I mellow and do my Zen thing, Where I hang with friends at bike night and have fun. Even when I wick it up on a ride it is not at 90% of what I use on the track (and I don't seem to have any trouble keeping up with people).
Love the street. It is my first love. The track is just my addiction and junkies need their fix so they talk about it when they can't have it. :D
Hey Drparj where are you guys in Lawrence?
Any Spanish chicks?
If so I'll meet you guys at Pollo Ticica.
:gayfight:
Bloody hell!
Who really gives a shit about either side of this? It's an open invitation to attend a STREET ORIENTED bike meeting. If you don't agree with "how" the group promotes themselves, don't go. If you enjoy all aspects of riding without passing judgment on others, then go! But for Christ's sake, when will you people quit shitting on everything you feel isn't holy!
weaksauce
Usually meet around BK in Lawrence off the highway, but we have a Manchester NH chapter that we are in so we mostly in NH.
Also this Spring Opener thing was not a meeting it was a party. We have a few parties a year and I was inviting you people to a party, not a meeting.
Drparj,
I'm not going to read this whole thread as it'll just bring back bad NESR memories. However, I'll bring up my own personal experience. I remember watching your club roll into Bike Night in Lowell as I stood with my own on many occasions and I sadly remember pointing and laughing at some of the vests and helmets. Last year I remember reading/hearing about your downed rider. At that point and at the following bike night I felt like a total douche canoe because it wasn't until then that I realized that we share the same passion for motorcycles and suffer the same losses of our close friends who share our deadly addiction. I gave generously to your collection that night and I will forever admire you guys for what you are; RIDERS just like me. Welcome!
The reason I did join was for a brother hood kind of world. I got plenty of friends and I wanted something a little more and it was things like that collection that made me want to join. Brother riders helping there downed friend. Ohh and he is hoping to ride again this summer, after 12 surgeries and still counting. I respect all other clubs and riders for just that another brotherhood and another rider. I may not hold there same values but they have there own and I admire them and respect them for that.:twothumb:
Do I have to be in your club to be part of the brotherhood?
You don't have to be in mine and I still consider you in the brotherhood. :D
(Bastard child or not) :poke:
How bout this.
If you crash I will contribute money to your get well fund and I will send you a card that all the VT crew have signed.

Doc, who are you tryin to kid? You'd give him a kidney :P
Its funny that you mention this rider. His name is Chris.
I met him a few months ago and it took me a few times talking to him to connect the two. When I finally figured out who he was, I asked him if the accident changed his view on wearing gear (he wasn't wearing a helmet when he was hit). His response? "I didn't hit my head in the crash."
So yeah.
