Word, Nick. The content of NESR is what the NESR members make it. If you want more street riding talk then go street riding & make more street riding threads.

Re: Lawtown Ryderz Spring Opener April 4th

    1. the originally ribbing was at the vests, I think theres maybe 3 members here that are part of that crew. It was never about street riding vs track, until Jim pointed out that the stretched out chrome bikes are frowned upon here. (so I blame him)
    2. Most of the most vocal members here ARE adamant track riders (lookit the amount of signature in the thanks list) but if you also look, most of us still ride on the street as well. So we're not anti-street
    3. I still think theres a vast number of douchebags on motorcycles, and call it stereotyping if you want, but most of the chrome out stretched bikes perpetuate this stereotype. And I still hate douchebags regardless of what or how you ride.
    4. Pete is still a douchebag.

Remember the days of yore when people bitched and cried cus NESR was a mean, intolerant place & poked fun of others? I'm not moderating anything so please don't pull the friggin "mod" card, that drives me up the wall, I'm just pointing out how certain people here are being total hypocrites. We cry out for tolernce for our own personal diversities, then chastise those that are different from us. It's ''New England Streetriders'' not ''New England One Way Streetriders''

I'm sorry... was I personally attacking someone or following someone from thread to thread simply to start shit with them because I don't agree with their sexual preferences, lifestyle choices or anything else that's completely unrelated to riding? Pretty sure I wasn't. I didn't pull the 'mod card,' you did and consistantly have been the only mod that feels its your place to step in and tell people what they can and cannot say and act as a babysitter. I've always been for moderation when needed, but there's a difference between moderation and censorship.

I love you Pete, always have, but I have a problem with you subtly telling me I can't say something and then accusing me of pulling the 'mod card'

Re: Lawtown Ryderz Spring Opener April 4th

I normally would not get involved in a topic like this but I have an experience that directly relates to the topic of where this thread is going.

I used to date this chick and she had an older sister who rode. She happened to be close friends with a lot of members from a bike club based in Dorchester, MA. They were the typical chromed out, stretched swingarm, bullet proof vest kind of biker gang. I ended up meeting up with a couple of the members when my ex g/fs sister put together a little ride. When they found out I rode, they wanted me to attend some of the club's get togethers.

I consider myself open minded when it comes to a lot of things so I decided to go just to see the "other side" of this motorcycle culture. When I showed up the people were somewhat nice. When I got involved in conversation with some of the individuals I was having a hard time connecting/seeing their point of view. Their definition of riding was riding around the city, showing off their colors, and racing/stunting on public streets.

When they asked me about my riding style I told them that I like to ride on quiet country back roads, and get the bike leaned over. I also mentioned that in the next year I want to start doing track days. They all had confused looks on their faces. I knew the kind of audience I was talking to so I just excused myself from the conversation because I knew they wouldn't understand me.

As long as bike clubs are not breaking any laws or putting other peoples lives in danger (stunting on public roads) no one is right no one is wrong. Have any of you heard the term Cultural Relativism? I think that term can directly apply to NESRians and the non law breaking bike clubs. I've seen so many situations on NESR where a new member who doesn't fit the NESRIAN criteria, gets bashed on and leaves the forum. Sometimes they deserve it (Remeber that Boss Hogg guy) and some didnt. I think people on here are definately getting better at being opened minded to things outside of the NESRian way of life, and this thread is proof of it. GOOD WORK NESR!!!

Re: Lawtown Ryderz Spring Opener April 4th

    Billy,

Nice post. I found NESR because of Stonnerstock. I was on a group ride from a website forum that is spelled almost like this one; never been so freightened in my life! All that was going through my mind was - I needed to call my wife and let her know I was going to be in the hospital all night long hugging and consoling people I have never met. One of the riders was rolling his eyes at my newly minted '01 GSX-R 1000 at MM where we started. The group stopped at the Eggshell for lunch. Upon leaving, I noticed something about his Ducatti that I did not like, approached him about it: the night before he swapped rims, and forgot to tighten is rear cam lock/chain tensioner, it could have been a bad day for him. Later in the ride, he invited me to the party.

After attending Stonnerstock, I realized this website was a place for more mature behaving riders, and me.

Vests, chrome, performance mods, it dosen't matter. What does matter is not how fast you ride, but how you ride fast...

    Oh what the hell...

DRparj and I had a convo via PM awhile back. (Notice I did not bash in public, proud of me?) He and I came to an understanding. To each there own I guess.

NESR is trackday/racing oriented because those are the people that post the most, plain and simple.
You want more street content, post up.

I used to be in the crowd that wanted to do a track day and couldn't afford it. I used to ride ALOT faster than I should have on the street, I used to not wear ATGATT, I used to think I was a pretty good rider and I made good choices, I used to want a vest.

I have been to the track and I race, I don't ride as fast on the street, I wear ATGATT, I am a better rider but I have alot of areas to improve on, I started a chapter of a military riders club to promote safety and ATGATT, we have patches (no vests).

Why do I type this... For background.

I find it strange when someone wants to get to the track but they can't afford it yet they have a very nice bike.

If you wear a vest over your gear, I have no personal issues.

If you wear a skullie, a t-shirt and your vest I have an issue because you perpetrate the stereotype. A stereotype I try hard to squash.

If you have a custom bike I look at it for what it is, a piece of art. Good for you.

If you ride the street, do your irresponsible ridng where people can't see you and wear ATGATT, you are my kind of rider. If you don't I won't ride with you very long.

    To each his own.

    Ride what you want.
    Wear what you want.

But don't pull the rest of us down with your silly antics.

I love ya Dan. I have a blinging out TLS & I only pose next to it. I do wheelies with no gear on. I even ride with no helmet sometimes. I don't have any flip flops

If you wear no helmet, a T shirt, and shorts and cut out from a side road at the track riding with one hand on the bars directly in front of someone driving with the right of way I have an issue. I also have an issue with the fact that you won't stop fucking preaching and telling people what to do. Worry about your own god damn life and stay out of other peoples business.

Wow, 1 day later and a whole extra page. Some of you guys are angry fellars and don't worry you can't scare me away. I learned back in high school not to care what people have to say about you if its something you like doing. And just like the patch, I got enough friends so you know where to go if you want to be a dick, myself I would rather meet lots of people, make lots of friends and ride lots of rides. I happen to wear all my gear and can't always say I did, but when you eat pavement not wearing you tend to smarten up. Ride smart so that if shit happens you are still able to ride after you clean up the shit.

And again I do agree with most of you saying some bike clubs are and might be idiots and squids. What I don't agree with is people stereotyping like its a racial issue. This is riding, you either ride good or you don't and having a vest does not define this. Your experience and smarts make you a good rider and nothing more. I have had friends that where not great riders and since friends I would help them progress, others I choose not to ride with.

Ps I like seeing you guys argue, keep it up.
