    Bayley-Hazen this month?

Anyone else interested in a Bayley-Hazen ride this month (including the class 4 / "hero" sections)? I was hoping to get up there this fall, and time is now running short—thinking maybe October 16 (unless I manage to talk someone into going up this Saturday).

(Mark, I was looking forward to riding this with you; we'll have to get back to it next year once you heal up.)

Or, for that matter, anyone know if the road came through Irene okay?

I would love to go, but I doubt the XT will be ready by then, and even if it is I don't think my knee is up for it. We need to do this road next year since this year was a bit of a bust.

I would assume that this road was left in decent shape by Irene, since it lay pretty much out of the major damage zones, but who knows. At any rate, it's impossible for me for obvious reasons.

We'll definitely do this next year though!

    Re: Bayley-Hazen this month?

I got the spirit & interest...just not the talent or the gear for the "hero" section. Definitely next year... If my google searches were accurate, it looks like a road & ride I would like.

I have done parts of this route(?) but never the whole distance. Is there a gpx or similar file ?

Thanks for asking... hopefully, next time.

Yeah, because immediately after posting it I realized I was an idiot. Had simply forgotten that it's called Hazen's Notch up there where Rt 58 crosses the mountain.

    Maybe next time,

sadly, I have birthday party to attend at 1pm. Have a great ride, Hazen Notch & surrounding area is quite nice. It is supposed to be mostly sunny weather today.

Have a great & safe ride.

Um, does anyone know if the wind project is affecting the B-H? The article in today's freeps about protestors camping mentions that the farm across the ridgeline is the one on the B-H road...

Saturday, as long as there's no snow in the way?

Meet at P&H Truck Stop in Wells River around 10 a.m., maybe?

(assuming that we're not stopping for breakfast—the forecast suggests that an early start and breakfast on the road would be ill-advised.)

As long as the weather holds, that sounds good to me. I thought I had seen a forecast of snow on Sunday, but it looks like that's now moved to Monday.

Weather is supposed to be good on Sunday, better than on Saturday, in fact. Wish I could go with you guys!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I'm not sure the weather is going to cooperate...the latest weather model runs show heavy, wet snow Saturday night (and we got a few inches here yesterday, I'm kinda hoping that enough of it melts from in front of the garage that I can ride out this afternoon).

Unfortunately, I think I'm out—unless the forecast changes drastically between now and then (in which case I'll have to come back to Killington Saturday night and roll from here Sunday morning), I don't think there's enough of an above-freezing weather window to ride the road and be back here in the evening.

They're talking about snow here tomorrow night now too. Sunday morning could be pretty unpleasant.

There was actually snow flurries at my brother's place in Stowe yesterday afternoon. Nothing to worry about... but the seasons are a-changing.
