Unhappy Crash in ST Albans: Terry from St Albans? Crashed today

So my buddy was telling me that a few hours ago his buddy called panicking because he was mowing his lawn and all of a sudden he heard a crash, turned around and saw a bike flipping across the street. The driver landed 20 feet away from him minus a leg His wife was on the back but he doesn't know his state.

Guy was screaming for help but no one stopped and my buddy had to stay with him until someone finally called 911.

Guys name was Terry if anyone knows more? Keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

After seeing my dad crash last week and now hearing about this... Who wants to buy a Speed Triple?

Prayers going out to Terry and his passenger? Did your buddy stay until the ambulance arrived?

Looks like they were the victims of a drunk driver. Sucks that this kind of stuff happens. http://www.wcax.com/story/14985403/m...ged-dui-driver

Well that sucks Well wishes go out to them. At least the drunk was caught, but that doesn't undo the damage done. Ugh, really hate to hear about things like this.

Edited to add: I think things like this are part of reason I have been riding less this season. I saw enough bad behavior on the trip to last me a lifetime, and the appeal of the street has diminished significantly. I would much rather be mountain biking or riding the dirt bike than be contending with these types of people out on the roads.

Yeah, my friend's buddy stayed until the ambulance got there and then left as soon as they had him loaded. He was too shaken up to go with the guy or anything and didn't know him personally.

Rough man. It is scary enough that there are more benign things like gravel, rocks etc in the road let alone people who don't see you.... let alone people who drive drunk, drive high or whatever.

So here is the latest article: Motorcycle Accident - Burlington Free Press

The riders were Diana and Terry Pilon.

Diana is in fair condition. Terry is in critical. The positive thing though is that Terry was conscious and able to remember his name at the scene of the accident. He spoke as much as he could to my friend's buddy while he was there with him, so that is definitely a hopeful thing.

Why does the article say "The two women on the bike..."?

That's a good question.... Terry is a guy as far as I know. My buddy just kept calling the rider 'Terry' and I thought he said 'HIS wife' but maybe I just assumed when he told me.

I thought a girl's name is spelled 'Terri' typically? A quick check say's Terry is a guy married to Diana which matches what my friend was saying.

    Sheesh

    Not much worse

I wrecked in 68 in Houston, Tx

After coming too (I believe moments) I counted 14 cars that ran up on a curb to get around my head. A van finally stopped but he may not have had clearance to get passed. There was no cell phones so only someone helping and then land line to ambulance etc would have gotten help.

I was injured but young so road it home with a broken abraded ankle

People sucked then and now, props to your friend for doing the right thing.

    Hope the man recovers

Oh no.... need to not have any more..... once the name is released let us know... if you already know the name probably best to wait until it is released so that family has been notified first....

47 year old man new to motorcycling. Hopefully that doesn't fit anybody's description from Bike Night.

Georgia, Vermont –A dead body was found near a motorcycle on Skunk Hill Road in Georgia Tuesday morning.

Vermont State Police say a 47-year-old man from St. Albans was found by a person using the Park and Ride. Police are not releasing the man's name.

Police believe the man lost control of his motorcycle on loose gravel, struck a guardrail and then went down an embankment.

Investigators say the man was wearing a helmet and recently received his motorcycle license.

Police say alcohol was not and factor and the accident is still under investigation.

There is a comment on the first article posted from the peoples' daughter

these two people are my parents........they are in hospital beds because of someone who chose to get behind the wheel while drunk. And here I read this is her 3rd DUI in 2 months???? Unbelievable.........My fathers life is changed forever with a now amputated leg. My Mother has several broken bones......I hope this woman knows how lucky she is that she is not being prosecuted for manslaughter right now. DUI laws SICKEN ME.

Welcome to VT, where DUI goes unpunished for the most part. Slap on the wrist.

    Sickens me as well.

Re: Crash in ST Albans: Terry from St Albans? Crashed today

It is good to read that there were at least a couple folks other than my buddy's friend that stopped to help. Makes me feel a little better after hearing about how people were just driving by.

Sickening that this 'woman' wouldn't be in prison after the second dui at least.... from what the guy says in the comments this woman was WAY into the other lane.

On a side note, and far less important then the condition of the rider, Terry is a guy.
