Meanwhile, the sun's now out again in Burlington.

We're going to have short cloudbursts moving through all afternoon. The radar has little speckles in Vermont. The nasty shit is over the Adirondacks and rotating northward; hopefully it won't make it this far east.

My opinion? Just wear your rain gear and don't worry about it.

It's partly sunny outside of my building right now. I just went outside and found these in the parking lot. Sky for reference.

Re: CycleWise Dealer Night! June 30th

Left Colchester around 5:30 pm. Saw jcbell headed the wrong way (North) on the interstate. He was smart.

In South Burlington I saw clouds like this ahead...

...but decide to keep pressing on until I at least felt some rain. I was headed past Kwiniaska Golf Course when I started getting pelted. I knew it was only going to get worse and I still had 30 miles ahead of me so I said fug'git.

Rode by Donny's on the way home. Only one guy there... the hardcode dude with the old GSXR and hand controls all on the left side.

Hope you guys are having fun and staying dry but I think I may be one of the lucky ones. Time for me to crack a beer and grill a burger and raise my glass to those of you who might be riding home in the rain. Godspeed!

Edit: Oh snap, you guys are effed:

Yup, got out of work a little late, looked at the radar and knew bad things were on the horizon.

Right now its big lightning and thunder with intermittent downpours.

Re: CycleWise Dealer Night! June 30th

I wasn't kiddin when I said rain and I was gonna bail. Me F4I Ty and Village Idiot were on river rd, and I saw a wall of water coming to us. I hit a driveway and threw my cell and wallet into a plastic bag and said screw it, turned back knowing it wasn't raining just down the road. HA. It didn't stop raining till I hit Waitsfield. Got to check my braking ability, BT-002 traction and the performance of EBC HH pads on soaked rotors all while on soaked pavement. Results are pretty good, I did NOT fly over the hood of the white pickup truck nor did I wad the gixxer into the ground like I had expected to.

I still got soaked but at least half my ride home was on dry pavement. Sorry to bail on you guys...was hoping the rain would hold out a bit longer.

It just started pouring here. I guess the thunder and lightning are soon to follow.

Re: CycleWise Dealer Night! June 30th

Damn good turn out considering the weather.

Cyclewise put on an awesome event. Food was great, I won a door prize and we had good conversation.

I tried to follow 7.62 home but the idiot was doing 70 in a 40 in the pooring rain. I hope he made it home ok.

Now lets start getting excited for the Moto GP Party!!

Re: CycleWise Dealer Night! June 30th

We're only young once Doc! I remember a story about you on the 900SS getting pulled over by the Kwiniaska Golf Course...how fast were you going?

I feel bad though that Adam (one armed GSXR rider) was at Donny's solo...I sent out an email about tonight, guess he missed it. He used to Road Race, and still goes to the track. He'll be going to the 20/21 TTD with CW, so me, Bread, KBrod, and JCBell will have the chance to get smoked by him!

    +1 on the turn out!
F4IGuy, Village Idiot, Markbvt, KBrod + GF, 7.62, myself, and a few other non-nesr people showed up on their bikes, with about 6 more people caging it (of course Mark and I showed up prior to the deluge!).
F4IGuy and I took off round 8 together with Trouble behind us in the truck, and of course, I wanted to see if the Priller could make it in the rain...bad decision...had a short somewhere and lost ALL power not 3 miles down the road! Ah well.

Props to CycleWise for hosting a great Bike Night for us, I think most everyone left with something, whether a door prize or a small purchase. 15% off, gotta get something! If any of you have a chance, please email Tamara, Joe, Robbie, and the gang and say thank you. www.cyclewisevt.com, Or stop in. It was a great night, even with the rain! Think I might get me a rain suit (race fit of course) and do some more rain riding...but on the Kawi .

Good stuff, hope everyone made it home safe. Thanks for braving the weather! Next week we're back at Donny's!

Yep, made it home safe and sound! (And am now warm and dry...) Haha, had to test the powerband on those new pipes! Felt pretty darn good, didn't even break the back end loose in the wet! Little bit of a stumble up around 8-9k but nothing really major.

That was on my 750ss and it was about 1am on a hot DRY summer night.

Point was that I was trying to stay with him to make sure he got home in one piece and my wife's lil hamster wagon was wheezing.

Glad you made it home Ok Daviid.

Re: CycleWise Dealer Night! June 30th

Yeah, it was a good time. The ride home was very wet. My Triumph waterproof gear wasn't (waterproof, that is). Actually, the jacket did pretty well -- my t-shirt mostly just got damp around the collar from water dripping in from my helmet. But the pants leaked badly. I'm going to need to figure out how to re-waterproof them, or just replace them.

My Sidi boots stayed dry though. Love those things.

Thanks for lookin' out Doc, I appreciate the concern!

Those BT016s are freaking EPIC in the wet though... I've never had traction issues with them and feel super confident even in torrential shit like tonight

Naw....they really are great in the rain. Add 40ish hp to your bike and repeat the trying to get the back to break loose...I did the same thing with the BT-002's. They are 96% lick, DOT maximum. First time in rain I was careful, knowing they were 96% slick. Well with 160 to the rear tire, they stick phenominally well in the wet. Haven't hydroplaned them either. I have broken them loose a few times. I certainly don't hammer the throttle often in the wet, but hey...I think it makes you the better rider knowing what your bike and tires do at all times. I'm not hardcore enough to try snow though

Agreed! If I really whacked the throttle all the way open, it might break loose but I think it'd pop the front before the rear lost traction anyway. I'm definitely more careful around turns in the wet but 7 is a pretty straight shot. Part of the reason I was hauling ass was to get ahead of some pesky cars that were hosing me with spray.
