All bullshit aside, want to race to first race weekend? Name your bet. I'll even get on a scale and fess up to my sorry state of current weight - I have not been on a scale in a while. I'm not going to like what it tells me...

If there's a target weight how do we win if we both hit it? Not objecting, just trying to figure it out. Regardless, I'm game. What's the bet? One sprint race entry fee?

If you wanna get all mathematical & shiznt, it's a function of initial lbs/hp vs ending lbs/hp.

Take 5 lbs off a car & driver & the "HP Gain" is very little. Take 5 lbs off a bike & rider and the "HP Gain" is more noticable.

    Doc, you're a fatass.

1 lb = 7 hp, is what I've heard. Props to you Doc for setting a goal, now get there! Here's some motivation: you don't make your goal, I get to race your hawk instead

That is way below what they say is healthy. I though women (in your age group were considered healthy at 20-30%.

Not that I should talk....mine is well below what they consider healthy for my age group In my defense...it aint my fault!! I eat like a bus full of caged Jenny Craig members at a Krispy Kreme drive through.

10 by the first weekend is only 3% of my weight.

So to be fair it needs to be 3% of anyone else who is in for that one.

Post up your weekly weight here. (Copy Paste)

I'm trying to lose a little weight and get in shape as well, but my starting weight is under all you guy's target weight so I'll just giggle at all the fatties.

    Re: Doc's Weight Loss thread

    Doc,

Easiest way to lose weight is eat protein and fat only. Try to eat about 180 grams of protein a day and about 30 grams of fat a day (good fat..not saturated). While doing that you need to do cardio early in the morning on an empty stomach...(prefferably running). I can guarentee the fat will melt off you in the first two weeks. Just before the summer I do this diet/cardio routine and it never fails. Through the winter (right now) i'm about 215 (I'm also 5' 8 1/2"). Within a month of doing this I drop about 15 pounds down to 200 ( i can't get below 200 pounds no matter how hard I try). So, that's about 15 pounds in a month and a half to 2 months time...and, i'm losing that much without even carrying very much body fat around in the winter, imagine what it would do for you or someone carry a high body fat content... This works! When you starve your body of carbohydrates and take in alot of fat, it tricks your body into burning more fat....provided you're working out..this speeds your metabolism so that you can burn fat just sitting around

    weight loss = (cardio)(calorie intake)/age
I have been busten my but with the treadmill cardio 30 mins do 2.6 miles 3times a week and weights. But the calorie intake is a killer. The age reduction thing sucks, I keep gaining. Was 150 now 161 and gaining. You thinks its muscle growing in my head?

My math may be off, but 3% of 213 is about 6.XX 10 lbs is almost 5% of your bodyweight... you should do it, but remember first one to 12% pays for a race entry fee.... Did I mention I am going to redeem it on an AMA entry in 2011?

I use flaxseed oil mixed with my protein shakes for the most part, you can also use cannola oil. I also eat alot of almonds, peanut butter...stuff like that. That's about the only fat that I take in. Again, in order for you to trick your body you have to do a steady workout to speed that metabolism. If you're not taking in enough food to fuel your body, what happens is your body will hold on, or store fat, because it's afraid it won't have enough energy(fuel) to sustain itself. When you feed it fat it'll actually let go of the fat it has faster (burn fat) becuase it thinks theres going to be a plentiful amount of fuel coming in.

    Does that make sense?
